    Having disk space problem

    Hello Friends,

I have bought a new Acer laptop having windows vista on it. My hard drive capacity is of 160 Gb. But the problem is that i can only see around 70 Gb hard drive used on my laptop while more than 60 Gb i'm missing on my laptop. I had checked all the hard drive contents but it only shows that you have 10 Gb free space left on your hard drive. I don't know what exactly the problem is all about. Can any one tell me how can i get my free space back on my hard drive? Any kind of information would be appreciated.

    Thanking You.

Hey how many partition you have done on your hard drive. If you have several partitions on the drive you can check how much space is used by each of them with the help of Disk Management Utility, just Right Click on My Computer--> Then select Manage and click on Disk Management. It would help you to know the exact free space on your hard drive.

Hey if your running windows vista on your laptop, then Vista has the backups option in it. You can try to clean up your hard disk, under more options choose Delete system restore and shadow copies. Then click on Ok tab and follow the normal options.

You can download TreeSize or WinDirStat. These free programs will give you an analysis of your hard drive space. You can find out where the space of your hard drive is being used.

You have a directory structure issue which is either taking up space improperly, or is giving you false space remaining read errors. If you have a utility like Disk Warrior, run it to rebuild the directory. Also, did you just recently install any new applications? May also be because a log file of some sort is improperly growing larger and larger in size, which is also possible.

Try Disk Inventory X to locate the issue.
    Try running Onyx as well.
