    Creative Zen Vision Docking Problem

    Hi friends,
When i connect my ZVM (Zen vision m) to the computer, the zen shows that it is charging but the computer doesn't realise its connected. I thought this may be due to computer so i also tried on my friend's P.C. who also has a ZVM but the problem persisted. Both the P.C. has creative software on it.

Is the problem due to WMP(Windows Media Palyer) because few days back when i was synching my ZVM with WMP both frozed. Whe i restarted my computer it was not recognizing Zen.

Re: Creative Zen Vision Docking Problem

Why dont you try booting ZEN into Recovery mode. Recovery can help sorting out Database corruption or filesystem or firmware corruption.

Perform the following steps to boot the player into Recovery Mode:

    • Press the reset button located at the bottom of the player. Press and hold the reset button.
    • While holding the reset button, slide the power switch toward the power icon and hold it there.
    • Let go of the reset button.
    • Release the power switch when the Zen bootscreen appears.

The Recovery Mode functions are as follows:

Disk Clean-up: Cleans up any filesystem and database errors that may exist, along with other hard drive housekeeping tasks. This also resets to default any user settings in the player, such as equalizer settings, FM presets, Hidden Folder password, and so on. The system time, firmware, and all uncorrupted stored media will not be affected.

Reformat Disk: Removes all stored media from the player and resets the database. This will be necessary if switching from one library manager on your computer to another - for example, changing from Media Explorer to Windows Media Player. Firmware and user settings will not be affected.

Reload Firmware: Removes the existing firmware and prepares the player for a new firmware load. This is necessary if the firmware is suspected of being corrupt, or to change from European firmware to US firmware (to remove the volume restriction). Stored media will usually not be affected. Note: You MUST have the new firmware file on your computer and be ready to load the new firmware, as your player will not properly boot until the new firmware is loaded!

Reboot: Performs a soft reset and reboots the player.

Try it hope it solves your problem.

Re: Creative Zen Vision Docking Problem

I think this problem occurs due to WMP 11. Use a computer that has XP go to add/remove programs - uninstall windows media player 11.

There's also a program called "Windows media format runtime 11" which comes with WMP11 & you need to uninstall this too - otherwise it still won't recognise the player.

After doing this then restart your PC. Then make sure you have downloaded the lastest firmware version.

Then click the "reload firmware" option in the recovery mode. Then when your PC has restarted plug in your Zen, it should come up something like "MTP device recognised". Now when you double click on the firmware downloaded to install - it it will recognise the player & you can click the upgrade button. It does the upgrade & puts the firmware back on the ZEN.

Re: Creative Zen Vision Docking Problem

I have the solution but not a permenant one
when i connect my zen vision m to my cmputer, it does not become docked nor it charges, i tried many solutions but all were useless but finally i got it right.
I reset the player then quickly pluged it with the USB cable to the computer it says rebuilding now its docked and charging when i remove it, it stays docked and charging i reset it again and now it works ok.
