    Hard disk, sales below expectations

"Sharing market analysis about the last quarter, with market shares of the disks fall in net"

The segment of the hard disk, in recent years, did record a significant and steady growth to meet the increasing demands from users, thanks not only to disseminate the new standard HD and broadband, but also an ever more pressing need in terms of capacity, producers have pledged to ensure more capable solutions, while maintaining highly competitive prices. All this has led, directly, in a significant increase in shipments and orders, making happy all the major manufacturers of storage solutions.

The fourth quarter could, however, as analysts reported: If the beginning of the year forecasts had predicted an overall growth of about 16.6%, these figures were adjusted downwards, and in the event of a positive trend of the market will reach 14.9%, if everything goes wrong, there is talk of a drop of up to 13.4%. Underlying these "adjustments", analysts read gl influences resulting from orders from PC systems. Despite the negative moment, the earnings for 2009 challenges influenced largely by notebook and enterprise segments.

To help in this decline, play a predominant role even large part of OEM traditionally used to make these important orders during the quarter, which is not occurred in 2008.

For the average user, 500GB of space that are not fill a huge ever, so if a PC is sold with a 500-disc, that user difficult to buy other hard drives (at most a secondary external).

True, but PC houses of developed country there are still few. I call it the global crisis rather than saturated market.
