    Is changing BIOS battery safe?

    Hi all.
My CMOS battery is giving me problem the time and date keep changing every now and then.
I need to change CMOS battery on my motherboard. I've never had to do this before. Is there any chance of losing my BIOS during the battery change? Is there any risk involved in changing the battery? any further precautions necessary for doing this?

    Hi Theophilus,
It can happen due to virus also why not scan your system with good antivirus.

You will lose all your custom BIOS settings and also the date and time will be wrong. But there is no chance of causing damage and not ruining of your BIOS.

    Hi Theophilus
Changing the CMOS battery is ok but you have Record current CMOS settings first.Keep this information in case you lose your computer settings.Record the type of battery that is currently installed Remove the existing battery and replace it with the new battery in exactly the same configuration (same polarity, or + and - settings).Reset the computer date and time.
