My CD and DVD drives have disappeared from my PC. They do not appear in "My Computer" and if I try to play a movie or a CD on a media player, I am told that these drives do not exist.
Does anyone know how I get this drive back?

Have you formatted your PC? Or opened the case and did something with the cd/dvd drive wirings?

No, I have not formatted. It disappeared suddenly. I dont know how and why this happened.
