Hard Drive data recovery

HI,
I have a serious trouble here!
Hard disk is being faulty. I get a black screen after the windows welcome screen. I got a new HDD & placed in my comp. NOw the problem is i need the data from my old HDD which is in the hidden state!
Can you guys tell me how to recover the data?

can you tell me what exactly happens? DO you get any error message? Or you cant see the hidden files on it whether you can access the files or not from that drive?
Well i have some options of softwares for you
1) IF you can see the drive & access it Roadkil's Unstoppable File Coppier free

2) If you can see the drive letter & not the files on it Piriform Recova free.

What i want to say is I can get access to D: drive ie. OLd HDD but when i double click on it i can see the normal files but not the hidden files.
I also cant open files from any program & get a warning "access denied".
