A computer sound card makes any difference in the power consumption OR the quality of sound at a low or high volume combinations of Computer & Speaker vice versa?

Always keep your master volume control in your PC's control panel set to the max, set the WAV input fader to the max too. You won't get distortion, due to the nature of how sound is manipulated and stored digitally. On the contrary, you are more likely to get distortion if you don't have the control panels set to max, because you are forcing the PC to do some form of signal reduction in the digital domain.
