Insert SIM
Before you can use your phone, you need to insert your SIM.
1. Remove the SIM holder
- Insert the opener for the SIM holder into the small hole in the SIM holder on the side of your phone.
- Remove the SIM holder from your phone.
- The opener is attached to the cover containing the papers that come with your phone.
2. Insert SIM
- Turn your SIM so the angled corner of your SIM matches the angled corner of the SIM holder.
- Place your SIM in the SIM holder.
3. Insert the SIM holder
- Insert the SIM holder into your phone.
Activate Apple ID on your phone
An Apple ID gives you access to a number services on your phone such as iCloud, App Store and iTunes. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet.
1. Find "iTunes & App Store"
- Press Settings.
- Press iTunes & App Store.
2. Activate Apple ID
3. Return to the home screen
- Press Apple ID and key in the username for your Apple ID.
- Press Password and key in the password for your Apple ID.
- Press Sign In.
- To activate your device using a new Apple ID: press Create New Apple ID and follow the instructions on the display to create a new Apple ID.
- Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
Charge the battery
You should charge the phone battery regularly to ensure that your phone is always ready for use.
1. Connect the charger to your phone
- Connect the charger to the phone charger and then to a wall socket.
- Connect the other end of the charger to the socket at the bottom of your phone.
- When the battery charging icon is displayed, charging is in progress.
2. End charging
- When the battery is fully charged, you can remove the charger from the wall socket and your phone.
- When your phone is turned on, you can always see the battery power level. The bigger the coloured section of the battery icon, the more power.
Turn your phone on and off
Remember, you need to insert your SIM in your phone before turning it on.
1. Turn on your phone
- Press On/Off until your phone is turned on.
2. Enter PIN
- Slide your finger right on the display.
- Press Unlock.
- Key in your PIN and press OK.
- If your phone rejects the SIM:
- Contact the distributor or service provider where you bought your phone.
- Your PIN is used to protect your SIM from unauthorised use.
- If you enter an incorrect PIN three times in a row, your SIM will be blocked.
3. Turn off your phone
- Press and hold On/Off.
- Drag the arrow right to turn off your phone.
Guide to phone keys and sockets
The list below shows you what the different keys and sockets on your phone are used for.
On/Off
- Several functions are associated with On/Off:
- Press On/Off to turn your phone on or off.
- Press On/Off to turn on the screen lock.
- To reject an incoming call, press On/Off twice.
The Home key
- Several functions are associated with The Home key:
- Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
- Press the Home key twice to see a list of active applications.
The Silent mode key
- Slide the Silent mode key right or left to turn silent mode on or off.
The Volume keys
- Several functions are associated with The Volume keys:
- Press the Top volume key or the Bottom volume key to adjust the ring volume.
- Press the Top volume key or the Bottom volume key during a call to adjust the volume.
- Press the Top volume key or the Bottom volume key to silence the incoming call alert.
Socket
- Connect the charger or data cable to the socket and to a wall socket or your computer's USB port.
Headset socket
- Connect the headset to the headset socket.
Camera lens at the back of your phone
- Point the camera lens at the back of your phone at the required object to take a picture or record a video clip.
Camera lens at the front of your phone
- Point the camera lens at the front of your phone at the required object during a video call.
How to write text
Text input is used in many of the phone functions, such as notes and messages.
1. Introduction
- You can select a number of settings when keying in text.
- The following steps show you how to change writing language, turn on word suggestion and write text.
2. Find "Keyboard"
- Press Settings.
- Press General.
- Press Keyboard.
3. Turn on word suggestion
- Press the indicator next to "Auto-Correction" until the function is turned on.
- When you turn on word suggestion, words based on the letters you've keyed in are displayed.
4. Add writing language
- Press Keyboards.
- Press Add New Keyboard....
- Press the required language to add it.
- The selected language determines which characters are available and the language used for word suggestion.
5. Select QWERTY keypad
- Press the required language.
- Press QWERTY until the function is turned on.
- Press Keyboards.
- Press Keyboard.
- Press General.
- Press Settings.
6. Return to the home screen
- Press the Home key to save the settings and return to the home screen.
7. How to write text
- The following steps require that you're writing text and that the keypad is visible.
8. Write text
- Press the writing language icon until the required language has been selected.
- Press the letters to key in the required word.
- A number of words based on the letters you've keyed in are displayed.
- To insert the suggested word:
- Press space.
- To continue without inserting the suggested word:
- Press the word suggestion.
9. Write numbers and symbols
- Press 123.
- Press the required numbers or the required symbols.
- Press #+= to see more symbols.
- Press ABC to return to text input.
Select network
You can set your phone to select a network automatically or you can select a network manually. If you select a network manually, your phone will lose network connection when the selected network is out of reach.
1. Find "Carrier"
- Press Settings.
- Press Carrier.
2. Select option
- Select one of the following options:
- Select network manually, go to 2a.
- Select network automatically, go to 2b.

- If automatic network selection is turned on:
- Press the indicator next to "Automatic" until the function is turned off.
- Your phone searches for networks within range.
- Press the required network.
- Your display will tell you if you've access to the network you've chosen.
2b - Select network automatically
- Press the indicator next to "Automatic" until the function is turned on.
3. Return to the home screen
- Press Settings to save the setting.
- Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
Select network mode
You can select which network modes your phone should use. This selection influences the data speeds you can achieve.
1. Find "Mobile"
- Press Settings.
- Press Mobile.
2. Select network mode
- Press the indicator next to "Enable 4G" to turn the function on or off.
- 4G/LTE enables you to achieve higher data speeds than when using 3G or GSM.
- If you turn on 4G/LTE, your phone automatically switches between the network modes provided you're within range of a 4G/LTE network.
- If you turn off 4G/LTE, you can't achieve high data speeds.
3. Return to the home screen
- Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
Turn flight mode on or off
You can turn off all wireless connections so your phone can’t cause any interference with sensitive equipment in a plane or a hospital. You can still use your phone when flight mode is turned on, but you can’t send messages or make calls.
1. Turn flight mode on or off
- Slide your finger upwards starting from the bottom edge of the display.
- Press the flight mode icon to turn the function on or off.
2. Return to the home screen
- Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
Turn use of PIN on or off
The PIN protects your SIM from unauthorized use if your phone should get stolen. If use of PIN is turned on, it needs to be keyed in when you turn on your phone.
1. Find "SIM PIN"
- Press Settings.
- Press Phone.
- Press SIM PIN.
2. Turn use of PIN on or off
- Press the indicator next to "SIM PIN" to turn the function on or off.
- Key in your PIN and press Done.
- If an incorrect PIN is entered three times in a row, your SIM will be blocked. To unblock your SIM, you'll need to key in your PUK. The PUK can be obtained by contacting customer services.
- Please note:
- If the wrong PUK is entered ten times in a row, your SIM will be blocked permanently. In this case, you need a new SIM from Vodafone.
3. Return to the home screen
- Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
Turn use of phone lock code on or off
The phone lock code protects the contents of your phone from unauthorized use. When the phone lock code is turned on, it needs to be keyed in every time you turn on your phone and when it has been in sleep mode.
1. Find "Passcode & Fingerprint"
- Press Settings.
- Press General.
- Press Passcode & Fingerprint.
2. Select option
- Select one of the following options:
- Turn on use of phone lock code, go to 2a.
- Turn off use of phone lock code, go to 2b.
2a - Turn on use of phone lock code
- Press Turn Passcode On.
- If you've already added a fingerprint:
- Press Keep or Delete.
- Key in a phone lock code of your own choice.
- Key in the same phone lock code again.
- Press Require Passcode.
- Press Immediately or the required period.
- Press Back.
2b - Turn off use of phone lock code
- Press Turn Passcode Off.
- Key in your phone lock code.
3. Return to the home screen
- Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
Use Touch ID
You can set your phone to use your fingerprint as phone lock code or to authorise iTunes and App Store purchases. Remember, you need to turn on use of phone lock code.
1. Find "Fingerprints"
- Press Settings.
- Press General.
- Press Passcode & Fingerprint.
- Press Fingerprints.
2. Add fingerprint
- Press Add a fingerprint....
- Follow the instructions on the display to add a fingerprint.
- Press Continue.
3. Select settings for Touch ID
- To use Touch ID as phone lock code:
- Press the indicator next to "Passcode Unlock" until the function is turned on.
- To use Touch ID to authorise iTunes and App Store purchases:
- Press the indicator next to "iTunes & App Store" until the function is turned on.
4. Return to the home screen
- Press Back.
- Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
5. Use Touch ID
- If you've chosen to use Touch ID as phone lock code:
- Press and hold the Home key.
- If you've chosen to use Touch ID to authorise iTunes and App Store purchases:
- Touch the Home key to scan your fingerprint.
