    Apple iPhone 5S FAQ

    Insert SIM

    Before you can use your phone, you need to insert your SIM.

    1. Remove the SIM holder
    • Insert the opener for the SIM holder into the small hole in the SIM holder on the side of your phone.
    • Remove the SIM holder from your phone.
    • The opener is attached to the cover containing the papers that come with your phone.

    2. Insert SIM
    • Turn your SIM so the angled corner of your SIM matches the angled corner of the SIM holder.
    • Place your SIM in the SIM holder.

    3. Insert the SIM holder
    • Insert the SIM holder into your phone.

    Activate Apple ID on your phone

    An Apple ID gives you access to a number services on your phone such as iCloud, App Store and iTunes. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet.

    1. Find "iTunes & App Store"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press iTunes & App Store.

    2. Activate Apple ID
    • Press Apple ID and key in the username for your Apple ID.
    • Press Password and key in the password for your Apple ID.
    • Press Sign In.
    • To activate your device using a new Apple ID: press Create New Apple ID and follow the instructions on the display to create a new Apple ID.
    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Charge the battery

    You should charge the phone battery regularly to ensure that your phone is always ready for use.

    1. Connect the charger to your phone
    • Connect the charger to the phone charger and then to a wall socket.
    • Connect the other end of the charger to the socket at the bottom of your phone.
    • When the battery charging icon is displayed, charging is in progress.

    2. End charging
    • When the battery is fully charged, you can remove the charger from the wall socket and your phone.
    • When your phone is turned on, you can always see the battery power level. The bigger the coloured section of the battery icon, the more power.

    Turn your phone on and off

    Remember, you need to insert your SIM in your phone before turning it on.

    1. Turn on your phone
    • Press On/Off until your phone is turned on.

    2. Enter PIN
    • Slide your finger right on the display.
    • Press Unlock.
    • Key in your PIN and press OK.
    • If your phone rejects the SIM:
    • Contact the distributor or service provider where you bought your phone.
    • Your PIN is used to protect your SIM from unauthorised use.
    • If you enter an incorrect PIN three times in a row, your SIM will be blocked.

    3. Turn off your phone
    • Press and hold On/Off.
    • Drag the arrow right to turn off your phone.

    Guide to phone keys and sockets

    The list below shows you what the different keys and sockets on your phone are used for.

    On/Off
    • Several functions are associated with On/Off:
    • Press On/Off to turn your phone on or off.
    • Press On/Off to turn on the screen lock.
    • To reject an incoming call, press On/Off twice.

    The Home key
    • Several functions are associated with The Home key:
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
    • Press the Home key twice to see a list of active applications.

    The Silent mode key
    • Slide the Silent mode key right or left to turn silent mode on or off.

    The Volume keys
    • Several functions are associated with The Volume keys:
    • Press the Top volume key or the Bottom volume key to adjust the ring volume.
    • Press the Top volume key or the Bottom volume key during a call to adjust the volume.
    • Press the Top volume key or the Bottom volume key to silence the incoming call alert.

    Socket
    • Connect the charger or data cable to the socket and to a wall socket or your computer's USB port.

    Headset socket
    • Connect the headset to the headset socket.

    Camera lens at the back of your phone
    • Point the camera lens at the back of your phone at the required object to take a picture or record a video clip.

    Camera lens at the front of your phone
    • Point the camera lens at the front of your phone at the required object during a video call.

    How to write text

    Text input is used in many of the phone functions, such as notes and messages.

    1. Introduction
    • You can select a number of settings when keying in text.
    • The following steps show you how to change writing language, turn on word suggestion and write text.

    2. Find "Keyboard"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press General.
    • Press Keyboard.

    3. Turn on word suggestion
    • Press the indicator next to "Auto-Correction" until the function is turned on.
    • When you turn on word suggestion, words based on the letters you've keyed in are displayed.

    4. Add writing language
    • Press Keyboards.
    • Press Add New Keyboard....
    • Press the required language to add it.
    • The selected language determines which characters are available and the language used for word suggestion.

    5. Select QWERTY keypad
    • Press the required language.
    • Press QWERTY until the function is turned on.
    • Press Keyboards.
    • Press Keyboard.
    • Press General.
    • Press Settings.

    6. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to save the settings and return to the home screen.

    7. How to write text
    • The following steps require that you're writing text and that the keypad is visible.

    8. Write text
    • Press the writing language icon until the required language has been selected.
    • Press the letters to key in the required word.
    • A number of words based on the letters you've keyed in are displayed.
    • To insert the suggested word:
    • Press space.
    • To continue without inserting the suggested word:
    • Press the word suggestion.

    9. Write numbers and symbols
    • Press 123.
    • Press the required numbers or the required symbols.
    • Press #+= to see more symbols.
    • Press ABC to return to text input.

    Select network

    You can set your phone to select a network automatically or you can select a network manually. If you select a network manually, your phone will lose network connection when the selected network is out of reach.

    1. Find "Carrier"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Carrier.

    2. Select option
    • Select one of the following options:
    • Select network manually, go to 2a.
    • Select network automatically, go to 2b.

    2a - Select network manually
    • If automatic network selection is turned on:
    • Press the indicator next to "Automatic" until the function is turned off.
    • Your phone searches for networks within range.
    • Press the required network.
    • Your display will tell you if you've access to the network you've chosen.

    2b - Select network automatically
    • Press the indicator next to "Automatic" until the function is turned on.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press Settings to save the setting.
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Select network mode

    You can select which network modes your phone should use. This selection influences the data speeds you can achieve.

    1. Find "Mobile"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Mobile.

    2. Select network mode
    • Press the indicator next to "Enable 4G" to turn the function on or off.
    • 4G/LTE enables you to achieve higher data speeds than when using 3G or GSM.
    • If you turn on 4G/LTE, your phone automatically switches between the network modes provided you're within range of a 4G/LTE network.
    • If you turn off 4G/LTE, you can't achieve high data speeds.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Turn flight mode on or off

    You can turn off all wireless connections so your phone can’t cause any interference with sensitive equipment in a plane or a hospital. You can still use your phone when flight mode is turned on, but you can’t send messages or make calls.

    1. Turn flight mode on or off
    • Slide your finger upwards starting from the bottom edge of the display.
    • Press the flight mode icon to turn the function on or off.

    2. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Turn use of PIN on or off

    The PIN protects your SIM from unauthorized use if your phone should get stolen. If use of PIN is turned on, it needs to be keyed in when you turn on your phone.

    1. Find "SIM PIN"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Phone.
    • Press SIM PIN.

    2. Turn use of PIN on or off
    • Press the indicator next to "SIM PIN" to turn the function on or off.
    • Key in your PIN and press Done.
    • If an incorrect PIN is entered three times in a row, your SIM will be blocked. To unblock your SIM, you'll need to key in your PUK. The PUK can be obtained by contacting customer services.
    • Please note:
    • If the wrong PUK is entered ten times in a row, your SIM will be blocked permanently. In this case, you need a new SIM from Vodafone.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Turn use of phone lock code on or off

    The phone lock code protects the contents of your phone from unauthorized use. When the phone lock code is turned on, it needs to be keyed in every time you turn on your phone and when it has been in sleep mode.

    1. Find "Passcode & Fingerprint"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press General.
    • Press Passcode & Fingerprint.

    2. Select option
    • Select one of the following options:
    • Turn on use of phone lock code, go to 2a.
    • Turn off use of phone lock code, go to 2b.

    2a - Turn on use of phone lock code
    • Press Turn Passcode On.
    • If you've already added a fingerprint:
    • Press Keep or Delete.
    • Key in a phone lock code of your own choice.
    • Key in the same phone lock code again.
    • Press Require Passcode.
    • Press Immediately or the required period.
    • Press Back.

    2b - Turn off use of phone lock code
    • Press Turn Passcode Off.
    • Key in your phone lock code.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Use Touch ID

    You can set your phone to use your fingerprint as phone lock code or to authorise iTunes and App Store purchases. Remember, you need to turn on use of phone lock code.

    1. Find "Fingerprints"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press General.
    • Press Passcode & Fingerprint.
    • Press Fingerprints.

    2. Add fingerprint
    • Press Add a fingerprint....
    • Follow the instructions on the display to add a fingerprint.
    • Press Continue.

    3. Select settings for Touch ID
    • To use Touch ID as phone lock code:
    • Press the indicator next to "Passcode Unlock" until the function is turned on.
    • To use Touch ID to authorise iTunes and App Store purchases:
    • Press the indicator next to "iTunes & App Store" until the function is turned on.

    4. Return to the home screen
    • Press Back.
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    5. Use Touch ID
    • If you've chosen to use Touch ID as phone lock code:
    • Press and hold the Home key.
    • If you've chosen to use Touch ID to authorise iTunes and App Store purchases:
    • Touch the Home key to scan your fingerprint.

    Make a call

    You can make voice calls to other mobile phones or landlines.

    1. Select option
    • Select one of the following options:
    • Enter number, go to 1a.
    • Find contact in the phone book, go to 1b.
    • Find number on the call list, go to 1c.

    1a - Enter number
    • Press Phone.
    • Press Keypad.
    • Key in the required number and press Call.

    1b - Find contact in the address book
    • Press Extras.
    • Press Contacts.
    • Press the required contact.
    • The contact details are displayed.
    • Press the required number.

    1c - Find number on the call list
    • Press Phone.
    • Press Recents.
    • Press all.
    • Press the required number.

    2. End call
    • Press End to end the call.

    Answer a call

    When you receive a call, you can either answer it, reject it or silence the incoming call alert.

    1. Select option
    • Select one of the following options:
    • Answer call, go to 1a.
    • Reject call, go to 1b.
    • Silence the incoming call alert, go to 1c.

    1a - Answer call
    • If the screen lock is turned on:
    • Drag the arrow right.
    • If the screen lock is turned off:
    • Press Answer.

    1b - Reject call
    • If the screen lock is turned on:
    • To reject a call, press On/Off twice.
    • If the screen lock is turned off:
    • Press Decline to reject a call.
    • When you reject a call, the caller will hear a busy signal or be diverted to your voicemail.

    1c - Silence the incoming call alert
    • Press the Top volume key or the Bottom volume key when you get a call.
    • The incoming call alert is silenced without the caller hearing it, and the call continues until it's ended or diverted.

    Turn call waiting on or off

    When call waiting is turned on, you can answer a new call without ending your ongoing call.

    1. Find "Call Waiting"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Phone.
    • Press Call Waiting.

    2. Turn call waiting on or off
    • Press the indicator next to "Call Waiting" to turn the function on or off.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Turn your own caller identification on or off

    You can turn off your own caller identification, your number will then not be shown at the receiving end when you make a call. You can also make one call with hidden caller identification. Your number is only hidden when you make voice calls not when you send messages.

    1. Find "Show My Caller ID"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Phone.
    • Press Show My Caller ID.

    2. Turn your own caller identification on or off
    • Press the indicator next to "Show My Caller ID" to turn the function on or off.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Create contact

    You can save your contacts in your phone's address book. You can save additional information to a contact such as email address and personal ring tone.

    1. Create contact
    • Press Extras.
    • Press Contacts.
    • Press the new contact icon.

    2. Enter name
    • Press First and key in the required first name.
    • Press Last and key in the required last name.

    3. Enter phone number
    • Press add phone and key in the required phone number.
    • Press the field next to the phone number.
    • Press the required number type or Add Custom Label.
    • If you select Add Custom Label:
    • Key in the required text and press Done.

    4. Enter email address
    • Press add email and key in the required email address.
    • Press the field next to the email address.
    • Press the required email type or Add Custom Label.
    • If you select Add Custom Label:
    • Key in the required text and press Done.

    5. Add more information
    • You can add more information to the contact. The following steps show two examples:
    • Assign picture, go to 5a.
    • Assign ring tone, go to 5b.

    5a - Assign picture
    • Press add photo.
    • To take a new picture:
    • Press Take Photo.
    • Point the camera lens at the required object and press the take picture icon.
    • Drag the circle to the required position to select the required section.
    • Press Use Photo.
    • To use a saved picture:
    • Press Choose Photo.
    • Go to the required folder.
    • Press the required picture.
    • Drag the circle to the required position to select the required section.
    • Press Choose.

    5b - Assign ring tone
    • Press Ringtone.
    • Press the different ring tones to listen to them.
    • Once you've found a ring tone you like, press Done.

    6. Save contact
    • Press Done.

    7. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Import contacts from your SIM to your phone

    You can import your contacts from your SIM to your phone. This way, you won't lose your contacts if you change your SIM.

    1. Find "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

    2. Import contacts from your SIM to your phone
    • Press Import SIM Contacts.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Divert calls to voicemail

    To receive voice messages, you need to divert your calls to your voicemail.

    1. Find "Keypad"
    • Press Phone.
    • Press Keypad.

    2. Select option
    • Select one of the following options:
    • Divert all calls, go to 2a.
    • Divert missed calls, go to 2b.
    • Divert if unavailable, go to 2c.
    • Divert if busy, go to 2d.

    2a - Divert all calls
    • Key in**21*(prefix) 5 (your phone number)#
    • Press Call.

    2b - Divert missed calls
    • To select for how long you want your phone to ring before the call is diverted:
    • Key in **61*(prefix) 5 (your phone number)**the required number of seconds#
    • Eg.:**61*(prefix) 5 (your phone number)**5#
    • Press Call.

    2c - Divert if unavailable
    • Key in**62*(prefix) 5 (your phone number)#
    • Press Call.

    2d - Divert if busy
    • Key in**67*(prefix) 5 (your phone number)#
    • Press Call.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Call voicemail

    You can listen to the messages you've received on your voicemail. Remember, you need to divert calls to your voicemail.

    1. Call voicemail
    • Press Phone.
    • Press Voicemail.

    2. Check voice messages
    • Follow the instructions from your voicemail.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press End to end the call.
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Cancel all diverts

    If you no longer wish to divert your calls to your voicemail or another number, you need to cancel the diverts.

    1. Cancel all diverts
    • Press Phone.
    • Press Keypad.
    • Key in ##002# and press Call.
    • Press Dismiss.

    2. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Set up your phone for iMessaging

    Your text messages can be sent as either regular text messages or iMessages. iMessages can be sent to phone numbers or email addresses if the recipient has a device which supports iMessages. Remember, you need to activate your Apple ID.

    1. Find "Messages"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Messages.

    2. Turn on iMessages
    • Press the indicator next to "iMessage" until the function is turned on.

    3. Turn sending of read reply on or off
    • Press the indicator next to "Send Read Receipts" to turn the function on or off.
    • If you turn on read reply, the sender is notified when you've read an iMessage.

    4. Turn text message alternative on or off
    • Press the indicator next to "Send as SMS" to turn the function on or off.
    • If you turn on Send as SMS, iMessages will be sent as regular text messages if the service is unavailable.

    5. Add email address
    • Press Send & Receive.
    • If you've not yet logged on with your Apple ID:
    • Press Use your Apple ID for iMessage.
    • Follow the instructions on the display to log on.
    • Press Add Another Email....
    • Key in the required email address and press return.
    • Press Messages to go back to the settings.
    • You can key in an email address which others can send iMessages to.
    • Remember, you need an Apple ID. If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one at www.apple.com

    6. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    1. Find "Mobile Data Network"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Mobile.
    • Press Mobile Data Network.

    2. Enter APN
    • Press "APN" below "MMS" and key in mms.vodafone.net

    3. Enter picture messaging server

    4. Enter IP address
    • Press MMS Proxy and key in 10.24.59.200:80

    5. Save settings
    • Press Mobile.
    • Press Settings.

    6. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Write and send picture messages

    Set up your phone for email

    You can set up your phone to send and receive email messages from your email accounts. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet.

    1. Find "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

    2. Create new email account
    • Press Add Account.
    • Press the required provider or Other.
    • If you select Other:
    • Press Add Mail Account.

    3. Enter sender name
    • Press Name and key in the name you want to use as sender name in your email messages.

    4. Enter email address
    • Press Email and key in your email address.

    5. Enter password
    • Press Password and key in the password for your email account.

    6. Enter email account name
    • Press Description and key in the required name.
    • Press Next.
    • If the display tells you that your email account has been set up, follow the instructions on the display to select more settings and finish the setup.

    7. Select server type
    • Press POP.

    8. Enter incoming server
    • Press "Host Name" below "INCOMING MAIL SERVER" and key in the name of your email provider's incoming server.

    9. Enter username
    • Press "Username" below "INCOMING MAIL SERVER" and key in the username for your email account.

    10. Enter outgoing server
    • Press "Host Name" below "OUTGOING MAIL SERVER" and key in mail.vodafone.ie

    11. Save information
    • Press Save.

    12. Select email account
    • Press the name of the email account you've just set up.

    13. Turn off encryption of outgoing email messages
    • Press "SMTP" below "OUTGOING MAIL SERVER".
    • Press the field below "PRIMARY SERVER".
    • Press the indicator next to "Use SSL" until the function is turned off.

    14. Turn off password encryption
    • Press Authentication.
    • Press Password.
    • Press Back.

    15. Enter outgoing port
    • Press Server Port.
    • Key in 25 and press Done.

    16. Turn off encryption of incoming email messages
    • Press the name of the email account you've just set up.
    • Press Advanced.
    • Press the indicator next to "Use SSL" until the function is turned off.

    17. Turn off password encryption
    • Press Authentication.
    • Press Password.
    • Press Advanced.

    18. Enter incoming port
    • Press Server Port and key in 110
    • Press the name of the email account you've just set up.
    • Press Done.

    19. Select setting for retrieval of new email messages
    • Press Fetch New Data.
    • Press the indicator nexto to "Push" to turn push email on or off.
    • If you turn off push email:
    • Press the required period or Manually.
    • To select settings for a specific email account:
    • Press the required email account.
    • Press Fetch or Manual.
    • Press Back.
    • Press Mail....

    20. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Write and send email messages

    You can send and receive email messages from your email accounts. Remember, you need to set up your phone for email.

    1. Find "Mail"
    • Press Mail.

    2. Select email account
    • To see a list of email accounts:
    • Press the field in the top left corner of the display.
    • Press the required email account below "All Inboxes".

    3. Create email message
    • Press the new email message icon.

    4. Select recipient
    • Key in the first letters of the required contact.
    • Matching contacts are displayed.
    • Press the required contact.
    • Repeat the procedure to add more recipients.

    5. Enter subject
    • Press Subject and key in a subject for the email message.

    6. Write text
    • Press the text input field and write the required text.

    7. Attach file
    • Press and hold anywhere on the text input field.
    • Press arrow right, if required.
    • Press Insert Photo or Video.
    • Go to the required folder.
    • Press the required picture or the required video clip.
    • Press Choose.

    8. Send the email message
    • Press Send.

    9. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Set up your phone for internet

    The internet connection is shared by many functions on your phone such as receiving email messages and installing apps. You can access the internet as soon as you've inserted your SIM. If this isn't the case, you can set up your phone for internet manually.

    1. Find "Mobile Data Network"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Mobile.
    • Press Mobile Data Network.

    2. Enter APN
    • Press "APN" below "MOBILE DATA" and key in live.vodafone.com

    3. Save settings
    • Press Mobile.
    • Press Settings.

    4. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Use internet browser

    You can use your phone's internet browser to access the internet. If you can't use the internet browser as soon as you've inserted your SIM, you need to set up your phone for internet.

    1. Find "Safari"
    • Press Safari.

    2. Enter web address
    • Press the address bar.
    • Key in the address of the required web page and press Go.

    3. Add current web page to bookmarks
    • Press the menu icon.
    • Press Bookmark.
    • Key in the name of the bookmark and press Save.

    4. Go to bookmark
    • Press the bookmarks icon.
    • Press Favorites.
    • Press the required bookmark.

    5. Add current web page to Reading List
    • Press the menu icon.
    • Press Add to Reading List.
    • You're able to view web pages saved to your Reading List even when your phone doesn't have an internet connection.

    6. Go to Reading List
    • Press the bookmarks icon.
    • Press the reading list icon.
    • Press the required list.

    7. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Install and use apps from App Store

    You can add new functions to your phone by installing apps from App Store. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet and activate an Apple ID on your phone.

    1. Find "App Store"
    • Press App Store.

    2. Find app
    • To search by category:
    • Press Categories.
    • Go to the required category.
    • To search by name:
    • Press Search.
    • Press Search.
    • Key in the name of the required app and press Search.

    3. Install app
    • Press the required app.
    • To install a free app:
    • Press FREE.
    • Press INSTALL.
    • To buy an app:
    • Press the price.
    • Press BUY.
    • Log on to App Store if you're asked to do so.
    • Follow the instructions on the display to install the app.
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    4. Use app
    • Press the app you've just installed.
    • Follow the instructions on the display to use the app.

    Use camera

    When you take pictures using your phone's camera, you can select a number of settings to improve the quality of your pictures.

    1. Turn on the camera
    • Press Camera.
    • Slide your finger right or left on the display to select PHOTO.

    2. Select camera settings
    • Drag two fingers together or apart to zoom in or out.
    • To turn the flash on or off:
    • Press the flash icon.
    • Press Auto, On or Off.
    • To turn HDR on or off:
    • Press HDR On or HDR Off (depending on the current setting) to turn the function on or off.
    • If you turn on HDR, your phone takes three pictures and saves them as one combining the best brightness conditions.
    • Please note that if you turn on HDR, the flash is automatically turned off.

    3. Take a picture
    • Point the camera lens at the required object and press the take picture icon.
    • To take a panorama picture:
    • Slide your finger left on the display to select PANO.
    • Point the camera lens at the part of the motive furthest to the left and press the take picture icon.
    • Move your phone slowly to the right in a straight line (the arrow needs to be on the horizontal line).
    • Press the stop icon.

    4. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Use video recorder

    When you record video clips using your phone's camera, you can select a number of settings to improve the quality of your video clips.

    1. Turn on the video recorder
    • Press Camera.
    • Slide your finger right on the display to select VIDEO.

    2. Turn video light on or off
    • Press the video light icon.
    • Press Auto, On or Off.

    3. Record a video clip
    • Point the camera lens at the required object.
    • Press the recorder icon to start the video recorder.
    • Press the stop icon to stop recording.
    • The video clip is automatically saved.

    4. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Share pictures or video clips using AirDrop

    You can share your pictures and video clips with another AirDrop supported device.
    1. Find "Photos"
    • Press Photos.

    2. Find picture or video clip
    • Go to the required folder.
    • Press the required picture or the required video clip.

    3. Share picture or video clip using AirDrop
    • Make sure the other device is turned on and is ready to connect via AirDrop.
    • Press the share icon.
    • Press the required device.
    • The picture or video clip is sent.

    4. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Use music player

    You can use the music player to listen to audio files you have transferred or downloaded to your phone.

    1. Find "Music"
    • Press Music.

    2. Use music player
    • Create a playlist
    • Add audio files to a playlist
    • Play an audio file
    • Go to next or previous audio file
    • Turn shuffle on or off
    • Turn repeat on or off
    • Adjust the volume

    3. Create playlist
    • Press Playlists.
    • Press New Playlist....
    • Key in a name for the playlist and press Save.

    4. Add audio files to playlist
    • Press the required audio files to select them.
    • Press Done.

    5. Play audio file
    • Press the required category at the bottom of the display.
    • Go to the required audio file or playlist.
    • Press the required audio file.

    6. Go to next or previous audio file
    • To go to the next audio file:
    • Press arrow right.
    • To go to the previous audio file:
    • Press arrow left twice.
    • To fast forward or rewind the current audio file:
    • Press and drag the time indicator right or left.

    7. Turn shuffle on or off
    • Press Shuffle or Shuffle All (depending on the current setting) to turn the function on or off.

    8. Turn repeat on or off
    • Press the setting in the bottom left corner of the display.
    • Press the required setting.
    • You can choose whether you want the music player to repeat one or more audio files.

    9. Adjust the volume
    • Press the Top volume key or the Bottom volume key.

    10. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Turn GPS on or off

    Your phone can determine your geographical position using GPS (Global Positioning System). The information about your location can be used by a number of applications on your phone such as navigation, the search function or weather forecast.

    1. Find "Location Services"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Privacy.
    • Press Location Services.

    2. Turn GPS on or off
    • Press the indicator next to "Location Services" to turn the function on or off.

    3. Turn use of GPS position on or off
    • Press the indicator next to the required application to turn GPS usage for the required applications on or off.
    • The menu items are only available if you turned on Location Services in step 2.

    4. Save settings
    • Press Privacy to save the settings.

    5. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Use GPS navigation in Maps

    When you use GPS navigation in Maps, you can get directions to a certain destination. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet and turn on GPS.

    1. Find "Maps"
    • Press Maps.

    2. Plan route and start navigation
    • Select one of the following options:
    • Enter destination, go to 2a.
    • Select favourite destination, go to 2b.
    • Select a previously used destination, go to 2c.
    • Select a contact address as destination, go to 2d.

    2a - Enter destination
    • Press Search or enter an address.
    • Key in the required destination and press Search.

    2b - Select favourite destination
    • Press the select destination icon.
    • Press Bookmarks.
    • Press the required destination.

    2c - Select a previously used destination
    • Press the select destination icon.
    • Press Recents.
    • Press the required destination.

    2d - Select a contact address as destination
    • Press the select destination icon.
    • Press Contacts.
    • Press the required contact.

    3. Start GPS navigation
    • The selected destination is displayed as a point on the map.
    • Press the start navigation icon.
    • Press Start.

    4. Use GPS navigation
    • The navigation window with information about your route is displayed.
    • The time of arrival, the travel time, the travel distance and the next route detail are displayed at the top of the display.
    • Follow the verbal instructions or the instructions on the display to go to the selected destination.

    5. Exit GPS navigation
    • If required, press anywhere on the display.
    • Press End.

    6. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Suppress calls and notifications (Do Not Disturb)

    If you don't want to be disturbed by calls or notifications, you can set your phone to silent mode for a specified period of time. You can also choose that your phone should ring when you receive calls from certain contacts even though your phone is in silent mode.

    1. Turn on Do Not Disturb
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Do Not Disturb.
    • Press the indicator next to "Manual" until the function is turned on.

    2. Set period of time
    • Press the indicator next to "Scheduled" until the display tells you that the function is turned on.
    • Press the field below "Scheduled".
    • Press From or To.
    • Drag hours and minutes upwards or downwards to specify the period of time in which you don't want to be disturbed.
    • Press Back.
    • Please note that your phone is only in silent mode when the screen lock is turned on. If the screen lock is turned off, you'll hear all calls and notifications.

    3. Select contacts
    • Press Allow Calls From.
    • Press Everyone, No One, Favourites or the required group.
    • Press Back.
    • You can select which contacts can call you or sent you messages even though Do Not Disturb is turned on.
    • You need to add the contact to your favourites before you can select Favourites.
    • You can create groups in iCloud on your computer.

    4. Turn Repeated Calls on or off
    • Press the indicator next to "Repeated Calls" to turn the function on or off.
    • You can set your phone to ring if the same person calls you twice within three minutes even though Do Not Disturb is turned on.

    5. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Select ring tone

    You can select the ring tone you want to hear when you get a call.

    1. Find "Ringtone"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Sounds.
    • Press Ringtone.

    2. Select your ring tone
    • Press the different ring tones to listen to them.
    • Once you've found a ring tone you like, press Sounds.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Turn silent mode on or off

    When silent mode is turned on, all phone sounds are turned off.

    1. Turn silent mode on or off
    • Slide the Silent mode key right or left to turn silent mode on or off.


    Select language

    You can select language for the phone menus.

    1. Find "Language"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press General.
    • Press International.
    • Press Language.

    2. Select language
    • Press the required language.
    • Press Done.

    Set date and time

    It's important that the date and time are correct as some phone functions won't work. In most cases, date and time are set automatically but alternatively you can set them manually.

    1. Find "Date & Time"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press General.
    • Press Date & Time.

    2. Turn on automatic time zone, date and time update
    • Press the indicator next to "Set Automatically" until the function is turned on.
    • If you want to set the time zone, date and time manually, you need to turn off automatic time zone, date and time update and press Time Zone and the date. Follow the instructions on the display to set the time zone, date and time manually.

    3. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Use notifications (Notification Center)

    You can set your phone to display notifications about missed calls, new messages and appointments in the status bar at the top of the display.

    1. Find "Notification Centre"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Notification Centre.

    2. Turn access from lock screen on or off
    • Press the indicator next to "Notifications View" or the indicator next to "Today View" to turn the function on or off.

    3. Select settings for day view
    • Press the indicator next to the required menu item to turn the function on or off.

    4. Select sort order for notifications
    • Press Sort Manually or Sort By Time.

    5. Select settings for notifications
    • Press the required menu item.
    • To change display format:
    • Press the required format below "ALERT STYLE".
    • To turn display of the selected notification on or off:
    • Press the indicator next to "Show in Notification Center" to turn the function on or off.
    • To select the number of notifications to display:
    • Press Include.
    • Press the required setting.
    • Press the field in the top left corner of the display.
    • Depending on the menu item selected, more settings may be available. Follow the instructions on the display to select the required settings.
    • Press Back to save the settings.

    6. Organize menu items
    • Press Edit.
    • Press and hold the organize icon next to the required menu item.
    • Drag the menu item to the required position and press Done.

    7. Return to the home screen
    • Press Settings to save the settings.
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    8. Use notifications
    • Press and drag the status bar at the top of the display downwards.
    • Press All.
    • Press the required notification.
    • Follow the instructions on the display to use the selected function.

    9. Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

    Transfer files between computer and phone

    You can transfer files, such as pictures or audio files, between your computer and your phone.

    1. Install iTunes
    • Go to www.itunes.com on your computer.
    • Find the download section on the web page to download iTunes.
    • Download and install iTunes on your computer.

    2. Connect phone and computer
    • Start the program iTunes on your computer.
    • Connect the data cable to the socket and to your computer's USB port.

    3. Select option
    • Select one of the following options:
    • Transfer files from your computer to your phone, go to 3a.
    • Transfer files from your phone to your computer, go to 3b.

    3a - Transfer files from your computer to your phone
    • You need to add your files to the iTunes library.
    • Click File.
    • To add one file at a time:
    • Click Add File to Library....
    • Go to the required file in your computer's file system.
    • Click Open.
    • To add a folder:
    • Click Add Folder to Library....
    • Go to the required folder in your computer's file system.
    • Click Select Folder.
    • Depending on your settings in iTunes, the transfer may start automatically.
    • To start the transfer manually:
    • Click iPhone.
    • Click the required category at the top of the screen.
    • Follow the instructions on the screen to select the required settings.
    • Click Apply.

    3b -- Transfer files from your phone to your computer
    • Click File.
    • Click Devices.
    • Click Transfer Purchases from .
    • You can transfer files you've bought on your phone to your computer, such as music, video clips, movies and applications. To transfer other files from your phone to your computer, such as pictures taken with the phone camera, you need a file manager on your computer.

    Use tethering

    You can use your phone to create an internet connection from a laptop or desktop. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet.

    1. Install iTunes
    • Go to www.itunes.com on your computer.
    • Find the download section on the web page to download iTunes.
    • Download and install iTunes on your computer.

    2. Connect phone and computer
    • Start the program iTunes on your computer.
    • Connect the data cable to the socket and to your computer's USB port.

    3. Find "Personal Hotspot"
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Personal Hotspot.

    4. Turn on tethering
    • Press the indicator next to"Personal Hotspot" until the function is turned on.
    • If this is the first time you use the function:
    • Press Wi-Fi and USB Only.

    5. Establish connection
    • An internet connection from your computer via your phone is automatically established.
    • When the connection is established, you can access the internet from your computer.
