Because you have to buy certain stuff for that. Every now and then people purchase electronic items. Like TV, Blu Ray Player, Home Theater System, Mobile Phone, etc. Before buying you have to keep certain things in mind. So that you all your devices must be capable of accessing multimedia files stored in your pc. You can create a centralized media server by hooking up a 1Tb hard drive in your pc and use it for storage purpose only. Media Sharing here does not only means playing content from your pc to different devices. It is not associated with storage. You can also transfer content from your mobile, tablet, camera, etc to your pc. It is a complete sharing process.
First we will move ahead with some points that you have to keep in mind before buying product like TV, Home Theater System, Mobile Phone, Tablet, etc. So that in future your investment can save your money.
- Buy Devices which offer you DLNA, NFC and other Media Sharing support.
- For Blu-Ray Player or Home Theater System try to find devices with LAN and Wifi connectivity.
- All devices must meet the latest standard of media sharing.
- All devices must be capable of reading various type of audio/video format. This is a time saver. OR else you will need to keep on converting files into readable format.
- Choosing Android is the right option here. It has tons of file sharing options.
- Windows sharing compatibility will be added advantage.
- Go with devices that offer plug and play solution. Avoid messing with cables, CD and long setup. That is a waste of time.
- Spending a bit higher amount in latest model instead of buying old one is not a good choice.
Above points will be helpful for you when you are out in the market to buy new stuff. Technology is getting simpler day by day. I had seen people today are still stuck with Bluetooth sharing. While powerful sharing features like NFC & Wifi Direct are available from long time. You can share large files over it. NFC is one of them easiest method to share a file or simply connect your device with other one. With single touch your devices are connected. It is smart feature. Before moving ahead to give you the final solution for sharing media files, I will provide you certain requirements. This is necessary to have a proper media sharing solution.
Router: You need a good router here. You can also go for a modem/router combo. Using a high speed router provide you more benefits. You can see the regular routers in the market offers you 150mbps of transfer speed. This is the most commonly found router bandwidth. I will advise you to go for a higher one. There are 300, 450, 600 and 750mpbs of router available n the market. With the increase in bandwidth the price of router also increases. Going for 450mbps will be more appropriate. This is because we are going to streaming HD videos, HD movies and audio files. They are large files and when you try to stream them on multiple devices at a single time on low bandwidth you will face buffering problem.
Home Network: A simple Home Network. Which can be achieved by connecting a Windows PC and proper LAN setup? Windows 7 would be one of the simplest options available here for configuring Media Sharing. So you can either connect your work pc or you can also convert your old pc to a media server. All you need is a large storage space and decent hardware. The system must have atleast Core 2 Duo processor with 4GB ram. We are going to use Windows Media Player only here. I am not going to list you any other media sharing application. This is the easiest one.
Devices with various Media Sharing Support: Check that the device which you are using whether it is a mobile phone, a tablet or HDTV it must have a proper media sharing support. Like DLNA, Windows File Sharing, etc type of stuff. Also ensure that these devices are capable of reading all kind of video and audio file format. If you buy a home theater system which only reads avi or mp4 then you will have to convert all your videos to avi format. Which is a time consuming process and it also spoils the video quality. Many HDTV and Home Theater system today supports a wide variety of media file format.
