How to Fix Risen 2: Dark Waters Crashing, No Sound, Poor FPS, Black Screen, Errors

To solve Risen 2: Dark Waters Crashes, Crash at Menu, Crash on Launching, Crashing while Playing you need to go through the below possible solution:

    First solution:

Disable all unnecessary background applications before launching game:
To disable unnecessary background applications click on Start menu > and type Run in the search box. In the Run box type msconfig. This will launch system configuration panel on the screen. If Windows needs your permission to continue, choose Continue. Choose the General tab and then click on selective Startup option. Uncheck Load Startup Items checkbox. Now you have to go to the Services tab. Click on Hide All Microsoft Services checkbox and select all services which are on screen. Disable them all. Restart your pc and test back.

    Second Solution:
Remove all the temp files from your system. You can remove all temp file through Disk Cleanup. To run Disk Cleanup click on Start > All Programs > Accessories, > System Tools > Disk Cleanup. Choose C drive from here and run it. First Disk Cleanup will scan your system and locate all temp files. You can later on choose which files you want to delete and which you want to skip. You can do this one by one for each partition. Another easier way for doing the same thing is through CCleaner. A free tool to wipe out unwanted files from the system.

Third Solution: For temporary period disable all antivirus and any other security software that may conflict with the game. It is also good to disable firewall. Test the game and turn it on back after sometime.

Fourth Solution: Download and install the latest version of DirectX from Official site (or click here to download latest version of DirectX).

Fifth Solution: Try to update your Graphic Card Drivers to latest version. This will resolve the issue. Most of the game launch problem appear only due to outdated video drivers. nVidia Graphic Card user try to download and install driver from NVidia Latest Driver Version and for AMD (ATI) Graphic Cards try to download and install latest driver from AMD Catalyst.

Sixth Solution: If you are unable to solve your issue after installing latest version of video card driver then I would recommend you to roll back video card drivers so that a new issue does not appear.

Seventh Solution: If your machine has multi-core processor, then try to hook the game on single core.

Eighth Solution: If above solution are not working then try to disable and enable the 3GB switch. To enable the 3GB switch on Windows Vista or Windows 7 launch command prompt. In command prompt type: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072 \and hit enter. Restart your pc. To turni t offer you have to type bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa back in cmd.

Some general steps to fix mostly Crashes and Errors:

To play latest game you need latest version of DirectX and graphics drivers installed, so therefore make sure your system installed with latest version of DirectX and graphics drivers.

If you’re using windows 7 or windows vista then I would like to suggest you to disable the UAC. To disable UAC click on Star. In the search box type UAC. Click on ok. From the window you have to reduce the security level. You can configure the same to Never notify and click on OK. Save the settings and restart your pc once. The UAC (User Account Control UAC) help to prevent unauthorized changes on your computer. This changes to the computer it require administrator privileges, you will be notified by the UAC.

Re: How to Fix Risen 2: Dark Waters Crashing, No Sound, Poor FPS, Black Screen, Errors

Steps to solve Risen 2: Dark Waters Crashes, Freezes, or Black Screen at start or after Intro Video

    • Try to Launch the game with Novid added to launch options of Steam. Along with this I would like to suggest you to verify the game cache for corrupted game files and error. To Verify the game cache you cam go through steps as given above. There are lots of issue to game crashing like old driver, antivirus and corrupted game file. So there its necessary to disable antivirus and update all driver to latest version to solve crashing and freezing issue.
    • You should check the requirements for your gaming computer configurations. Some games require high CPU and RAM resources. If your computer configurations are weak then you will not be able to run the game smoothly. It will freeze due to a shortage of RAM and CPU resources. You will need to update the basic requirements. Keep a good registry cleaner in your system which can analyze and fix any errors instantly.
    • Try reducing the hardware acceleration: When using the hardware acceleration the system would work slow. But some games need it. To reduce the hardware acceleration go to the start > Control Panel. Now in control panel make double click on System and after that go to Performance tab and click Display. Now here move the Hardware Acceleration slider towards right. Once you finish everything just save the all setting and after that restart the computer when you are prompted.
    • The default refresh rate of your display adapter: If you set the refresh rate to a value not supported by the monitor the game will freeze. You can refer to the monitor manual to find out a proepr refresh rate. Click on Start and in search box type dxdiag.exe. In that you have to go in More Help > Change. Here select Value. You can type the Value that will change the refresh rate of both, your video adapter and monitor.
    • If your using Quad Core and Multi-Core PCs then I think you should disable other cores to make the game more stable. For that launch the game and miniize it. Then launch Task Manager. Right click on the Risen 2.exe process and choose set Affinity. From here remove tick from all core. Just leave any one of them selected and then test back.

So above all is different solution to fix and troubleshoot sound, poor FPS, Black Screen, Errors and along with crashing, Black screen i hope these all steps helps you to fix issue of Risen 2: Dark Waters game.
