After the release of IOS 4.2.1 (not 4.2), the news comes unlocked and jailbreak. The Dev Team has released a new post on his blog to make an initial focus on the subject.
Jailbreak
Initially, the Dev Team reminds those who want an unlocked to stay out of this update, because the base band is updated. Subsequently, the good news is for owners of iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G MB (Non-TM). Thanks to the various functional and exploits previously found on these iDevice, you'll have a jailbreak 4.2.1 iOS untethered.
For newer models, iPhone 3G (new boot ROM), 4 iPhone, iPod Touch 2G ™, iPod 3G, iPod 4G and Touch iPad , the news is still good. With the achievement of Geohot used as a tool to jailbreak iOS Limera1n 4.1, the latest generation of devices can be jailbroken. Now it gets stuck on the side untethered. Indeed, now the jailbreak on these iDevice is tethered, that is to say that each device reboot a computer is needed to re-jailbreak to be functional. But all is not lost. Comex is working hard to make the 4.2.1 jailbreak iOS untethered. However SHSH of iOS 4.1 will be required. If you have not saved, it could be jammed. While the Dev Team would be an alternative but still using the SHSH iOS 4.1.
When will then exit? Not right away, but it beforehand. There are still some last minute problems like fixing a bug with the patch or Mobile Substrate Comex in the Kernel. But the team is on the spot and works to repair these problems.
