Installing Windows XP on Tablet PC

Here are the instructions which will guide you for making a XP TPC Disk. I am using an ACER Tablet PC Model C310 series which has faced a boot disk issue. I had tried some solutions from which I had able to make the same run back again. My version of operating system is Microsoft XP Professional. By this disk it is possible for you to get back your data from corrupt system and even from boot failure. It is also possible to recover your data with the disc which you will create now. For that it is necessary that you must have a bootable disc. This disk will work for most of the tablet pc models and it will also work well. Basically most of the modes does not comes with the cd’s which might help you to restore your table pc at one click.

First of the most important step to fix the same is to take a backup of your data. That I will recommend you to take on DVD or any external driver who must have enough space to hold your full data. My process here will give a clean installation support so there are chances of wiping out everything that you have in your system. So better take a backup of your data.

Recommended Software’s which you will need in this process:
    • nLite
    • Microsoft dot net framework
    • Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD (Tablet PC Edition )
    • Partition Magic
    • Microsoft VirtualPC

First copy the serial number of your Windows XP Edition form your table pc. If you want you can also add Acronic True Image to the list in case you want to create a recovery disc. By this disc your setup is much easier for the same. With this you might not need to install full things back again and again.
First install Microsoft Dot Net and then install nLite.
Create a new folder in the D drive and give the Windows XP TPC.
Now go to the C driver of your table pc and then copy the following list of folder in the new folder you have created in the D drive.
    • CMPNENTS
    • DOCS
    • I386
    • SUPPORT
    • VALUEADD

The next job is to search for the OEMBIOS file. For that you can press Ctrl + F in the C drive and search for the name of file. You will get the following 4 files. Copy them in the I386 folder of D drive.
    • OEMBIOS.BIN
    • OEMBIOS.CAT
    • OEMBIOS.DAT
    • OEMBIOS.SIG

Once done with then create a notepad file in the D drive and then copy the serial key on that. You can find that on the back of your Table pc. Put same in the d driver folder for reference.
Now insert a Windows installation disc in your drive and copy the following files from the root directory:
    • Autorun.inf 110
    • readme.htm 34,301
    • setup.exe 1,314,816
    • setupxp.htm 85,792
    • win51 10
    • win51ip 10
    • win51ip.sp2 10

Move them in the D drive Windows XP TPC folder.
After that create an another folder in Windows XP TPC and name it disc if you want. I am providing you some more list of files which you have to copy them in that. Remember this is a sub directory where you have to put the following list of files to make the installation work. So your CD might look like somewhat below mentioned:
    • CMPNENTS ( Folder )
    • DOCS ( Folder )
    • I386 ( Folder )
    • SUPPORT ( Folder )
    • VALUEADD ( Folder )
    • AUTORUN.INF 110
    • README.HTM 34,301
    • Serial.txt 29
    • SETUP.EXE 1,314,816
    • SETUPXP.HTM 85,792
    • WIN51 10
    • WIN51IP 10
    • WIN51IP.SP2 10

Once you had done with the folder then run nLite.
