How to create Professional Business Cards in Publisher

Effective marketing needs to be communicated at an accurate picture of your company to potential customers, and monitor the relationship with them after their first purchase. An essential tool in this regard is the business card. The card is a convenient way to find your contact information and a form of presentation of your company to enhance its image. The card is also an invaluable tool to develop and sustain a marketing word like mouth publicity.

But the cards remaining in your drawer are useless. So, make them move!

    • Whenever you see your client, give him your card and not just the first time.
    • Give your card to each member of a group and not just the head of the department.
    • Give two cards instead of one.

The foundations for a business card

In Microsoft Publisher, you can easily create business cards very effectively, the models proposed in Publisher can be made according to your own design. You can use color schemes and fontset to choose colors and fonts that best express the image of your company. You can also customize your cards according to a market segment or a specific place, or add the name and function of your new staff as and with the development of your business.

It is advisable to select the printing method at the beginning of creation to reflect the print settings that may influence your creative options. Depending on your needs, you can print business cards that you created with Publisher on your desktop printer or a printer.

    • You may need to print your cards from a printer if you want to accurately reproduce a certain color, draw in large quantities or if you need an alignment or precise bending. The printers are sophisticated machines and offer a variety of papers, inks, varnishes and other options.
    • You can also get excellent results using a desktop printer. You can use a desktop printer which is generally cheaper rather than going for a printer (especially for short runs). In addition, you can modify your business card that suits your current needs. Most stationary stores sell sheets pre-formatted with a color range for cards and specialty papers patterned preprinted.

Whatever the printing method you choose, remember to include these basic elements:
    • name or logo of your company
    • your name and designation
    • mailing address and your telephone no. and fax no.
    • your e-mail address
    • address of your website (URL).

    Making a business card duplex

The back of your card is a great place to add additional information for your customers. It may be a map, chart or text, a coupon, a special advantage for sponsorship, etc..

To add something back to your card:

    • In the menu Insert, click Page.
    • In the dialog box Insert page, click OK.
    • Add text, images and other data you want to see at the back of your card.
    • When you're satisfied, save the file.

Note: If you print business cards duplex on a desktop printer, first make a test on plain paper, for the following reasons:

    • Generally, desktop printers do not align properly double-sided documents. This is especially true if your printer does not have duplex automatic option and requires you to reload the paper in its hand print on the back.
    • For the two-sided printing, the margins of your layout card must be the same (as is the case for setting default page of 10 copies per page). If you've customized the margins, spacing or the number of copies per page, it will be difficult to align sided pages.
