I would like to congratulate all the lucky Windows 7 enthusiasts who have managed to grab a key from Microsoft & TechNet. If you haven’t got the key yet. Then Click here for getting the Key
In this guide I will point out some important things that you need to do and remember before installing Windows 7 on your machine.
Check the hardware requirement
The most common misconception still out there is that Windows 7’s hardware requirements are either the same as Vista’s or even higher. This is not the case at all. Although the minimum specs are the same as Vista’s, the OS runs much more smoothly than Vista does under the same hardware specs.Though Windows 7 should run fine with the 512 MB RAM system, it’s always better to follow Microsoft recommendations. Here are the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 7:
- 1GHz processor (32- or 64-bit)
- 1GB of main memory
- 16GB of available disk space
- Support for DX9 graphics with 128MB of memory (for the Aero interface)
- A DVD-R/W drive
- Internet access (to download the Beta and get updates)
Backup Vista:
If you are planning to upgrade from Vista SP1(SP1 is must) then it’s a good idea to backup your Vista drive so that you can revert back to Vista easily. I hope most of you know how to do back up task.
Backing up your data is one of the most critical steps in upgrading your operating system. Unfortunately, this step is often overlooked in the excitement of installing the latest operating system.
