How to install PCI card

How to install any card on PCI slot ?



IT is easy to install PCI card on your computer but some people find it difficult .
So here its simple step for installation .

PCI cards are mostly audio , internet modem, usb and ethernet are used respectively to add a sound card, 56K modem, a network and USB ports.
A PCI card has entry of product Manufacturers warnings on outside the box.
The box contain product detail and screw .


STEP 1)

Turn off your computer and disconnect the power supply.
open your pc from left side of cabinet.



step2) Take the card and check for downside printedbord connectors.
keep that connector sitd downward and either side in your hand .
chek the below position:

1. Location to external connector side of card.
2. Location to fix right downside of the card .
3. PCI Slot to put card printedbord connectors.
4. Location of screws.

step3)
Insert the card gently rolling in the side "right" between the edge of the motherboard and the wall of the cabinet.
Press firmly to completely plug the card into the PCI slot and the screws in cabinet.



step 4)
Check your earthing is working properly .
turn on your PC, Windows detects new hardware.
In most cases, PCI cards are Plug and Play, if not then windows will ask for the CD at the purchase of equipment to install the new device.

Hello,

I have a question...I have a striker II formula with 2 graphic card (8800 ultra + geforce 6600) and I need to plug a new modem 56K (I need it as FAX modem). The PCI slot is not covered by any graphic cards, however the space is very very small and the 56K modem card doesn't fit because touches the cooling system of the 6600.

However I see that it would fit if I reverse the modem card as shown on the picture.

...but i don't know if this is possible...???

The second possibility is to buy a riser card...but before to spend some money I would like to know if the first solution would work. Thanks

It is not possible to fix the card on reverse, because it simply do not fix the board. Second if there is low space inside then the riser card will also not help much here. You will need to look for a external pci solution for that. Better get a external modem. There are some enclosures which are easily available in the market. They give you additional pci slots which you can use outside of your system. But they are costly.

Hey just 2 things:

1) I'm speaking of a PCI 2.2 and as you see on the picture attached to the firsta message it's possible to plug the modem on the mobo in the reverse side
2) Because with both the video cards installed I have 2 centimetres for the PCI slot I think that a riser card could fit...
