    IES and PSU exam Preparation

    Hello friends I am going to appear for the IES and PSU exam this year. I have filled the application form for the same. I want to know the syllabus of the exam and the date of the exam. How do I prepare for the exam. What are the dates of the exam. Can anyone help me in finding the syllabus and preparation for the exam?

    The exam is going to be held form 15th June 2012 to 17th June 2012. Here is the detailed information on which date the papers will be held.
    • 15 June 2012 : General Ability Test
    • 16 June 2012 : Objective Paper I & Objective Paper II
    • 17 June 2012 : Conventional Paper I & Conventional Paper II


    I cannot say the exact date of the PSU examination. The PSU exams are conducted between the month of March and November. The examination of each candidate is based on their current project. It varies from time to time. You can check the schedule on the official website. The schedule is updated every month.

    Here is the syllabus for the IES exam. There are five subjects in IES exam. And the reference Book for studying the subjects.
    • General Ability.
    • Civil Engineering-CE.
    • Electrical Engineering-EE.
    • Electronics & Communication Engineering-ECE.
    • Mechanical Engineering-ME.


    General Ability includes:
    General ability includes two parts. Part A has the general English. Part B has the general studies. General English has the normal English and it is for checking the understanding English of the candidate. General studies include knowledge of the current events and observation in science aspects. It also includes the history and geography of India.

    • Life Science – NCERT


    Civil Engineering-CE includes:

    • Hydraulic machines and hydropower
    • Hydrology
