Discussion on MHCET 2010-2012 CAP round

AS the MHCET GD/PI round is almost set to get over the new paradigm that is going to set in the mindset of every student is regarding the CAP round process. I have a doubt regarding the selection process. If I do not opt to select any college for the admission if I have been selected even though been selected in round 4 of CAP will I be able to choose or eligible for CET 2011. Is it possible to get through the same. Some of my friends say that it is not possible you are not then eligible to attempt CET for the next year. Please help me out for the thing.

Yes you can surely attempt the CET for 2011. There is no doubt. Infact your friends have no idea about it. But the only thing is that you can go for the CET only and only if you have not chosen any college if you being selected. Then you can go for the entrance that you need to. This is purely based on the merit basis. The students opting out for the CAP rounds can enroll by applying and attempting the entrance for the next batch. The process is again carried after the GD/PI rounds and all.

There is no doubt that you are eligible for CET 2011. The same happened with me as last year I got admission to one of the college but I did not opt for it as it was not good. But I am not sure that you may eligible for CET 2011 if you chose a college this year. So I personally think that you should not go for admission to any college this year if you need to appear for CET 2011. You may not know what new rule may be implemented by DTE. So look out for the same.

Thanks a lot for the information. Now I have no doubt regarding the same. You guys really helped me out. So I am opting out this year as I am not going to enroll to any college. I am reappearing for the CET for the next batch. Hoping that I can do much better. I guess your opinion will really help.

The total number of students admitted each year by the IIMs is around 1500 and there are another 1500 seats in all other top B Schools. hi.. any idea wrt dates of CET 2011?
And is Distance Learning (from a recog. Univ.) acceptable to give CAT and XAT?

I am too searching for the date. Usually the entrance for the begins on feb and after a few months time the exam comes. You might need to wait back a little. For the distance learning thing I doubt whether it is supported by CAT or not. The best way to find answer for this is look for a detailed manual. Or on the site which are provided by the universities.

I had found some details on the DTE site about the same. The most important dates which I got is the 09-06 this year can be the date for declaration of Provisional merit lists and 15-6 for the final list. There is not much information provided after that. You might need to look on DTE sites for more information. The eligibility for he same is 45% aggregate marks.
