    Complete 3 required courses and 3 electives to receive the Stanford Advanced Computer Security Certificate.

    Earning the certificate
    • Participants have the flexibility of taking individual courses or earning a Stanford Advanced Computer Security Certificate by completing the 3 required courses and any 3 electives.
    • Courses may be taken in any order and by any method of instruction - at Stanford, online, or at work.
    • When you complete the program, you will receive the Stanford Advanced Computer Security Certificate from the Stanford Center for Professional Development.
    • Each course will earn 1 Continuing Education Unit (CEU).
    • In order to receive credit for a course on campus at Stanford, you must attend 90-95% of the class time.

    Do I qualify for this program?
    There are no specific requirements for these courses. However, we highly recommend that you take the Computer Security Foundations Certificate program first or have a background in Computer Science with a bachelors level of programming experience.

    What is included in the price of this course?
    Course fee includes continental breakfasts, luncheons, reception, participation in all lab sessions, and complete program materials package. The fee does not include hotel accommodations or travel arrangements.

    How many Continuing Education Units (CEU's) can I earn for this program?
    Each course earns 1 CEU. If you require a Stanford transcript, you should select CEU's upon registration.

    Can I earn a Professional Development Certificate for this program?
    Yes. The Advanced Computer Security Professional Development Certificate is signed by the Associate Dean of the School of Engineering and the instructors, and is awarded to participants as confirmation that they have completed all the Advanced Computer Security Professional Development Certificate requirements.

    How do I earn the "Stanford Advanced Computer Security Professional Development Certificate"?
    You must complete a total of 6 courses; 3 core courses and 3 electives. For online courses, participants must take and pass an online test in order to earn credit. Participants in on-campus courses are not tested, but we require that participants not miss more than 30 minutes of consecutive classroom time.

    Are there reading materials associated with this program?
    Not at this time.

    Am I required to take an exam to complete this program?
    For online courses, participants must take an online test and pass with a 90% score or higher for each course in order to earn a certificate of completion. Participants in on-campus courses are not tested, but we require that participants do NOT miss more than 30 minutes of consecutive classroom time.

    Will I have to do homework in order to complete this program?
    No.

    How long does this program take to finish?
    All courses are now available online. You may also take a combination of online and on campus courses to complete the certificate. We offer courses on campus every July.

    Is there interaction with the professor/lecturers?
    Yes, the on campus courses include lectures and lab sessions.

    How are the exams graded and submitted?
    The tests are taken online. Once you submit your answers you will be given a pass/fail result. We do not give feedback on correct/incorrect answers. You must score higher than a 90% in order to pass. You may take the exam as many times as you need.

    Is this program available on line?
    Yes, several of the courses are available on-line at this time.

    Is this program available on the Stanford campus?
    Yes, we offer this program every July on campus.
