can anyone plz tell me how can i change the harddisks icons to somethng different icon
1. Right-click on a folder and choose "Properties".
2. When the "Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, select "Customize".
3. Click the "Change Icon" button.
4. Choose an icon you wish to use and click "OK", or click "Browse" to browse your system for other icons. Look for .ICO and .EXE files on your system for more icons. You may even want to download some freeware icons over the Internet.
5. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.
or just download "change folder icon" software

you sound littile arrogant but still read this
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...nding/icon.asp
thanks dude for ur help but i found a better way to do that
Could you share your "better way" with us? thx
when i want change a hard disk's icon, i will put an "Autorun.ini" file into the root dir of the disk, which content is:
[autorun]
icon=xxx.ico
that's just like change the icon of a CD
in Win98 and Win2000, it will take effect just after i saved the ini file and refresh the explorer; but in WinXP, it will take effect only after the system restart.
it does works after a refresh.
ya that was the way in which i changed my harddisk icon
thanks
bye

you can also use a software called Microangelo ....its very good for all icons...
P IV 2.80c GHz [HT] ASUS V9900/TD [475/950] 1 GB pc3200 Ram [2.5-3-3-7]
One easy way is to give the following registry key:
First make a new key with the name "DriveIcons" (without quotes in the path specified in the registry address below) then inside that make a new key for the drive whose icon you want to change. For example if its C drive's icon that you want to change, make a new key "C" inside DriveIcons. Then inside C make one more key "DefaultIcon". Finally inside this new key create a new String value with the full path of the program's icon that you want as your drive icon. See my case below. (note, you can use only *.ico or *.exe or such program extensions for your icons)
>>>
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\C]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\C\DefaultIcon]
@="D:\\BACK UP\\EXE BACKUP\\Pack_Longhorn_Inspirat_1.1_code56874.exe"
<<<
An easier way out would be simply copy everything between >>>/<<< and put it in a text file and save it with any name and .reg extension (save as type : "All Files"). Make the changes you want in the icon path, that's it. When you want to implement it, save the file, close it then double click on the file so that its written to the registry.
You can do this for all your drives but not before you make separate keys like D,E,F, etc. for each of your drives.

Download TweakUI from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx
When u'll open it, u'll see an option Repair at bottom of the left side pane. And when u'll select it, u'll get the option to "Repair icons" in right-side pane!
Thank you ! all the members ......
Your discussion has helped me a lot . I came to know many new things.
