Auto-hide Shortcut toolbar in windows 7

Need a small trick from you all. I am working on Windows 7. As per my job profile i need to open various browsers, files, folders etc at the same time. Every time i need to come back to desktop or windows explorer to open those files and folders. Hence, i need a shortcut toolbar or you can call it desktop dock like we had in Vista. I need such functionality on my W7 desktop as well so that i can open the files right from any application. Also it shoud auto-hide after opening apps from it. Is it possible to do in Windows 7? If yes, please let me know.

Well, sad there is no built-in shortcut toolbar or dock in Windows 7. It was introduced in Vista and was ended with the same. if you want the same in Windows 7 you can use some 3rd party apps such as WinStep Nexus or RocketDock. These applications will allow you to get a dock on your desktop, you can customize it in your own way with colors, shortcuts, place, etc. These apps are worth. if you want you can search and download them from Google.

Thats correct. Both of these softwares are good for getting shortcut bar on our Windows 7 desktop. i have used these both but Winstep Nexus is far much better than the Rocketdock. It is very simple to use and you can do huge customization. Lets have a look at its feature list:

    • Icon reflections, Item magnification, Mouse over effects, Special effects.
    • Automatic transparent background blur
    • It collapse and hide automatically
    • It displays the arunning applications
    • Available In-dock widgets and modules.
    • Internal commands.
    • Optional full right-click context menus.
    • It also has Multi-monitor support.
    • We can change themes and do customization
    • Drag & Drop compatible.
    • Extremely easy to use with intuitive interface.
    • And many more....
