It is difficult to say about the browser since you have not mentioned the version of the linux operating system which you are using. I could have helped you in a better way if you would have specified the version of the linux operating system. Try to post it in your further replies so that i can help you.

As far as i know the google desktop supports all the version of the mozilla FireFox in Linux operating system. If you are using Ubuntu GNOME environment then you can change the browser preferences by following the steps which are mentioned below

    * Launch "System" Select Preferences again select Preferred Applications.
    * Now Select the "Web Browser" tab.
    * From the drop-down menu choose your Default Web Browser
    * If you want you can try to input a custom command for launching the correct browser.
    * Close it to save the preferences.

You can change the browser preferences by simply changing the default browser preferences from the preferred application from the preferences within system. Open the web browser tab and select the browser from the drop down list and close it to save the preferences. This will work if you are using the GNOME environment using the Linux. If you are running another Linux environment then try to consult your operating system's support site for instructions.
