How do you completely uninstall uxtheme? It causes my XP to BSOD, its happening since i patched it with another file. i want to completely uninstall. any procedure other than complete format and then re-install ? how do i remove this file ? and get previous one. Please help

Have you made nay backup of that file before patching it ? You should always take backup first before doing this type of stuffs, i think they only way is to replace it with the backup if you have made it.

Most of the patches makes the backup of this file in the process, it should have re-named the original .dll to "uxtheme.dll.bak". You can search for this. Refer to this similar issue thread for more suggestions : Uninstall uxtheme patch for Windows xp sp3

First try following :
- Download uxtheme.dll
- Unarchive the package
- Copy DLL files in system32 folder
- Click on Start > Run
- To install the dll files, type: regsvr32 uxtheme.dll
- To uninstall the dll files, type: regsvr32 -u uxtheme.dll

Try by running sfc /scannow command. Or try by restoring to system restore point if you have made any before installing the patch. You can also perform a repair install instead of clean install.
