Boost Start menu in windows Vista

You can customize the search results returned in the start menu search box to only return the results that you want. As you execute a search, Windows Vista automatically searches the file index as well. Go to your Start Menu and narrow down the scope of the search. You can boost searching in your Start Menu by narrowing the scope of the search by following ways:
    Registry Editor
    • Open registry editor using regedit.
    • Browse:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer and select Advanced.
    • Find and right-click on Start_SearchFiles.
    • Select Modify.
    • Set the Value to 0.
    • Restart the Explorer.exe process or reboot the computer.

You can also perform the task from the Start Menu
    • Right-click on the Start Button
    • Select Properties
    • Click on the Customize button
    • Uncheck Search Communications
    • Set Search Files to Don't Search for files
    • Click OK
