There is an easy way to increase or decrease the size of icons on the desktop in Vista.
With the desktop displayed, hold down the Control and use the scroll wheel on your mouse. As you move the scroll wheel, the icon size will be adjusted.
- Right click (mouse button) on empty space on desktop.
- Left click "Personalize".
- Left Click "Window color and Appearance".
- Left click "Open classic appearance properties for more color options".
An appearance settings window should now appear (looks very much like XP).- Left click the "Advanced" button.
- Advanced Appearance window pops up. look for "Item:". Underneath you will see "Desktop".
- Left click. A list will appear.
- Select "Icon".
- Now you can change icon size as well as the font and its size.
The icon size in Windows Vista is quite large by default and it is quite a pain to go to personalize and then change the icon size.
Here is a quick tip for those you use Windows Vista and have a mouse with a scrolling wheel.
To change the icon size of the desktop icons, click the Ctrl key while you are viewing the desktop and scroll your wheel upwards or downwards to change the icon size to your satisfaction. That’s it, its as easy as a click and a scroll.
