Add Address Bar on your Taskbar

    Hi,
I don't know if this is the right section or not. My question is how can i insert an additional IE search bar into the task bar. I used to have that feature on my cousins pc, but I cannot figure how to get it on my xp?

    Thankx for any help !

You can add an Internet URL address bar to your Windows XP taskbar. Doing so will let you type in URLs and launch Web pages without first launching a browser. It will also let you launch some native Windows XP applications in much the same way as you would via the Run menu (so you could type in calc to launch the calculator or mspaint to launch Microsoft Paint. Here's how you add the address bar:

    • Right-click on the taskbar and unlock it.

    • Right-click on the taskbar, select Toolbars, and then click Address.

    • The Address bar will appear on your taskbar.

    • You can now access any of your computer drives by typing c: or d: on your address bar without going to the My Computer window.

    • Type the url and hit enter. This will launch your default browser with the website opened.

    • If that doesn't work, your taskbar is locked. You can unlock it by right-clicking on the taskbar again and uncheck Lock the Taskbar
    .

    NOTE:
You may also need to grab the vertical dotted lines beside the word Address and drag it to the left to make the Address window appear.

    Refer this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951448

The Address toolbar has been removed from the taskbar in Windows XP SP3 in response to an issue that was raised by a regulatory agency.

You can use third-party Address bar replacement tools to accomplish the task.

    1. MuvEnum Address Bar - MuvEnum Address Bar is the ultimate replacement for the missing address bar in Windows XP SP3. It recreates the experience of the original address bar with auto-completion while adding many new features that allow you to quickly open webpages, navigate to favorites, start programs, search the internet, and more from you Windows Taskbar!

    2. Niversoft - Address taskband replacement for Windows XP SP3 (direct download)

MuvEnum Address Bar required .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed in the system. So I chose install the 2nd one (Niversoft), which does not require .NET Framework
