Why we can't create a folder name "CON" on desktop?

Hi,
This is a quite surprising thing I came to know from my friend.
He asked me to create a folder with a name "CON". I could not create such folder on my desktop or even renaming an existing folder to "CON" was allowed.
I don't know if there is any valid reason behind this.
Anyone techie on this forum could answer this question IMO?

"con" was basically use in old DOS versions for "Console"
There are other reserved name too like
lpt1, lpt2, nul, com1, com2, com3, com4, clock$, prn and may be many more

Hey you are right we are not able to create such folders on the desktop & even anywhere?
Why is it like that?
I think its a reserved keyword or any function like Bhairav said!
But I am sure there has to be a way to make it possible!
& I will search it ASAP!

I am trying to make folder on my desktop but I simply cant rename it to "CON" or "lpt1" & i don't know why since last 2 hours?

But I will find out the correct reason behind this! I don't think it a bug.

Here is the answer of your question Protected folders in Windows OS , You can't use them to name a Folder .
