Custom Icons For Your Hard Disk Drive

Here is a way to Give icons to your hard disk drives.

To change Default icons for all hard disk drives refer Customize your disk drives

• In this topic i'll show you how to change / give icon to your hard disk drive.
  
  
• First select the icon file which you need to use for a drive. to create a custom icon you need to open mspaint. printscreen the image which you need for the icon. Crop the image and save it. while saving give the name 'icon.ico'. yes put the 'ico' extension as well. now copy the icon file to the root of the drive. now open notepad and type the following code in it :
  
  

  [autorun]
  icon=icon.ico

• Now save the file as 'autorun.inf' in the root drive itself. do not change the name of the autorun.inf file or it wont work! now do it for as many drives you want [can do for all existing drives]. you can hide the icon and autorun file that you created.
  
  
• And finally reboot your computer and check 'my computer'.
  
  
• Custom icons look amazing, huh? Go on, and customize your computer the way you want...!

Thank you for sharing the tip, Now I can also customize my Drives and get a complete Unique PC. can you provide Icons (.ico format) for this customization from internet! provide any site from where i can download icons.

There are a number of sites offering free icons. But when you can make your own custom icons in mspaint itself, why you want to download icons from internet? its simple select an icon from any image crop it to approximate size and just save it to icon file by giveing the 'ico' as extension. Its simple isn't it...!? have fun!
