Are porn sites a huge security risk?

My friend sent me a link which belong to a porn site. I never open those in my system and I had seen a tons of popup when open this site. A office colleague of mine is IT guy who said that it would be stupid if you open the same. This are the most common medium through which your system is infected and you cannot do much in that. I have Norton 360 installed in my system. I had by mistake clicked on the link which came in the email and within few hours I receive a warning popup.I had scanned the system and nothing was found there.

Ample of websites that you are talking about comes with virus invitation and the end users is never aware about the same. They deploy social engineering attacks to target a user and make their system vulnerable to attack. The most common way the virus enter your system is through flash update. It may prompt you to update Active X. This is the most common way I had seen. There is a huge risk when you are visiting those websites and you must never ignore the same. It is never safe to visit such websites. Even if you are infected then the first thing you have to do is disconnect your pc from internet. Then run a full system scan under safe mode.

I had already faced that and there is nothing you can do in it. Those sites are tempting and when you open the I am sure you had browsed some pages. There are popups which are the most common on this sites. They keeps on opening up, jamming your system completely. A high majority of users are affected by virus only due to this. Norton is a good program. It keeps your system protected from such vulnerability and you must pay close attention to the same. Now I do not think you can find a safe list from web about such websites.

Well there is no website on the web that can provide us a information on which website is safe to visit and which not. You must have heard in news that a tons of websites which promote this kind of content are always prone to infections. To some extent Google helps us to stay protected. When you open a site which is already infected it gives you a malware warning on the top. You can ignore that and enter it as per your risk. Gambling website are another additions in the same. Get a good antivirus in your system and that is the only best way you can protect your system. Because this antivirus has capacity to block the virus files and avoid infection entering your system.

I think almost all popular website comes under the risk. Because a high number of people visit them and attackers needs easy catch. Some attackers specifically design the sites to target people. I had seen there are many ways by which the infection can enter your system. It can be done through a gif file or simply certain scripts embedded with the website code. The victim is never aware what is going on inside.

I think updated antivirus can protect you in some way. As said above it will block the incoming request and avoid attacks. Another thing you have to do is keep your system software updated. Because outdated stuff remains on risk to some extent. There are appropriate patches available that you can try to make your system out of risk. Another thing never trust this kind of websites. You bring your system to risk on your own.

I too agree that this kind of websites are vulnerable to number of threats and you cannot do anything in that. It is right that patched software are more secure. The most common way of accessing website is web browser. The sites are design which encourage users to generate clicks and are prone to attacks. Safe browsing is the best way to stay away from number of malware infection.

There are number of powerful antivirus that you have in your system. Among them you have Symantec. My system was infected by a virus. It might entered through web surfing. It was like a malware. After when it enters my system, it caused redirection on certain site. I used different antivirus to detect the same but nothing worked out. The only antivirus which was effective was Avira Antivir.

The virus normally uses exploits to target your system and cause issue with the same. A good antivirus with antimalware protection can be counted as bit helpful in many cases. Some reputed website may offer you a better protection. But you must trust only some site that offer you maximum protection. I will not say never visit those website's.

It is a common habit of many users. They disable their firewall and rely on a free edition of a antivirus. Outdated software or OS has lots of security bugs and the virus in your system can take benefit from it. You can reduce the issue by keeping your system updated and does not allow any unknown application installed in your system. Social Engineering attacks are more common on this kind of websites. It is not right that the web is 100% secure. Even if your security practices are upto date you cannot assume to have maximum safety.

I had updated my system and there is nothing left I think. My antivirus is also updated. I am using a free edition of AVG antivirus. It looks to be functioning well. It is not right to say that by applying proper patches your software are 100% secure. The exploits can be discovered very easily. I had purchased a license version of Norton antivirus and compared to the free edition it is more better. It puts a bit pressure on the system resources but to some extent it looks to be working fine.

What is the OS you have. I am using Windows XP SP3 and if you are still on SP2 then that is too risky. It is well said above that this kind of old or outdated systems have bugs. You must keep your system updated and upgraded. This are crucial things that can keep you safer from various threats. Virus works fine, if you carry safe practices and do not just keep on clicking on various websites. The malware or virus is triggered in various ways. Once they are in, they spoil the virus definition, system security and even modify the file permissions. To avoid any other major loss the only issue left is formatting your computer and getting a fresh OS installed with all patches and updates.

I do not agree that all of those websites are having virus. There are also people who are running those website and they might ensure sure protection. It is right that this kind of website is right material to attract people. Mostly if you have a good antivirus program in your system, it will detect the virus on its own when you visit those website. So that is why it is always recommended that you have a better security software installed. Antivirus like Norton offer you a powerful internet security support. It will keep a watch on websites that are vulnerable and affect your system.

That is the reason I keep on getting tons of new infections. I had tried to avoid by adding a good antivirus but that did not helped me much. I had reported the security risk to Norton and hope to find some way by which I can get rid of the same.
