I have installed AVG 8.0 Free edition AV in my system and i today morning while carrying out scan it some threats and said that it had healed all infections except one. As usual after completing scanning process i rebooted my system and since than i am not able to log on to my computer, i am getting an message saying “This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate Windows now?” Is there anything i can try to fix this issue??

    Try this:
Boot into "Safe Mode" > Click "Start" > click "Run" and type whats in quote "rundll32.exe syssetup,SetupOobeBnk" ("Oo"'s in Oobe are "oh's and not zeros) and hit enter.
After some seconds your screen will blip for some time and you will have to reset Windows Activation for 30 days that's all.
Just try it out and let me know if you face any issue further, best of luck.

I have tried out what you have mentioned but that's not working out for me, i think i am having a difference case. There is something wrong because of antivirus in my system. I have gone through some forums where similar issue has been mentioned but i dont see any effective solution yet. If you are aware of any other solution that might help than please suggest.

Yes it doesn't appear to be a license issue but it appears to be because of some virus. While checking out for your issue i came across one who had mentioned below solution to be working for him in similar situation. So just give it a try and check out if that's helping you out as well.
Boot into safe mode and tell AVG for adding "PUP Exception" for AntiWPA.dll in the c:\windows\system32 directory
You can do that by opening AVG > selecting tools > selecting advanced settings > PUP exceptions > clicking on add exception button > Browsing c:\windows\system32\antiwpa.dll and add it as an exception

I think AVG might be detecting AntiWPA program as malware. If you aren't aware of AntiWPA than i will like to inform you that it is loaded for tricking pirate copy of Windows as a fully legal copy. So if your antivirus might have remove AntiWPA then you wont be able to log in into your system. The best thing that you can try in this case is adding AntiWPA.dll as Exception. unidentified has already mentioned the steps for doing that.

Why dont you just uninstall AVG by booting in to safemode and try out the exception thing after booting and installing it in normal mode. I dont think just adding AntiWPA.dll as Exception will work but you can surely give that a try as i am not sure about it. If that doesn't work than uninstalling AVG will be a better idea rather than trying out anything else further, best of luck

Uninstalling AVG by booting in to safemode worked out for me. I did not had any issue in logging in to my system after uninstalling it. I have now added AntiWPA.dll as Exception and have crossed check my system restarting it couple of times. I havent reproduced same problem, thanks for the trick Amitgujaran.
