    Antec 750w for MSI R9 270X enough?

I am right now using a Asus 990FX motherboard and an old Radeon HD 4870 graphics card as well. The power supply that I am using is from Antec 750 watts. Right now I am planning to upgrade my video card to MSI R9 270X and was thinking if the motherboard only has 2.0 pci slots then will there be any issues. Also what type of CPU will support this card and is the Antec 750W PSU enough for this graphics card? Thanks for any information.

The difference is not that much noticeable in the PCIE 3.0 and PCIE 2.0 slot. The MSI R9 270X graphics card that you are choosing is not a huge upgrade but if you were going to choose the R9 280X or the latest GTX 970 then it would have been better. The Antec 750W power supply that you are using is sufficient for the new video card. As for the CPU you can upgrade to the Amd FX-8350 processor if you would like.

The MSI R9 270X video card will easily fit into any mid tower computer cases. As for the Antec's power supplies, they are made of the highest quality and remain the Tier 3 and higher category. So you wont face any issue on wattage or quality of capacitors is not going to be much of an issue for you. The 3.0 video cards are normally backward compatible wich means that it will perfectly work on a 2.0 or 1.0 PCIe slot without any issue but with a decreased bandwidth.

Instead of going for the MSI R9 270X card I would recommend you to upgrade to the Radeon R9 285 graphics card which has almost the same performance to a R9 280X and it will also cost you less. It is the best power efficient video card you can get at a cheap rate. You can also try to upgrade your CPU to the latest AMD FX-8350 which will give you a decent gaming experience all running fine on that Antec 750w power supply.
