    Antec 550W enough for Radeon R9 280x

I am using an old Antec High Current Gamer 520w power supply which is serving me good till now. I am planning to upgrade to the new Radeon R9 280x graphics card and so I was wondering if this PSU would be enough for the video card? Even if this psu is able to run this card but will it make the psu to work at full load and stress? Thanks for any information.

It looks to me that the Antec High Current Gamer 520w PSU will be fine for that graphics card? But what other computer hardware do you have? Also, if you are fully loading the GPU and CPU by playing some intensive games or doing some benchmarks then the power supply is sure to reach its limit but it will not be a big issue and you dont have to worry about it.

Well, just to be aware of the future issues you should go with a 650W power supply for the Radeon R9 graphics card as well as the rest of the computer components that you have. Go for the Antec EarthWatts EA-650 GREEN 650W which will cost you only $79.99. The fan of this PSU is very quiet and you also get good amount of connectors that are provided with it. The voltages are also very stable for this PSU.

I have heard that AMD suggest 500W Power Supply for a graphics card of series 7970ghz. The video card that you are choosing is going to use less power compared to the prior card. So, I think that your Antec 520W power supply will be just fine even if you overclock the video card a bit. But I do believe that Amd cards are very power hungry, so be ready for big electricity bills.
