    Evt ID 1085 GP client-side extension IE ZoneMapping failed to exec

    We are getting the below userenv id 1085 errors on all domain Windows XP Pro SP2 machines:

    The Group Policy client-side extension Internet Explorer Zonemapping failed to execute.
    *.windowsupdate.com
    *.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
    http://*.update.microsoft.com
    http://10.0.1.24
    http://download.windowsupdate.com
    http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
    https://*.update.microsoft.com
    https://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
    There are also numerous other entries in the format www.domainname.com.

    Additonally, here is an excerpt from a userenv logfile from one of the computers:

    We were having the same issue, the yser, who was using roaming profiles and redirected folders, somehow lost permissions on registry and folder redirection failed. I gave user via GPO permission to edit registry permissions and then logged in and added user full control of the current user (HKCU) registry tree. I also removed users elevated authority and everything worked smoothly then.

    Thanks for the replies, but I had already checked that answer and done the troubleshooting. But it was not working for me. We dont have IP address wildcard syntax problem.

    Even we were facing the same problem and it seems to be someone had put http://<hostname> instead of FQDN name, so when that entry was removed then the error disappeared. You can also try to do this and see if this helps.
