Event ID 2510: The server service was unable to map error code 998

Since upgrading to Windows 2003 DC that holds FSMO roles to Windows 2003, I was getting some error messages that states "Event ID 2510: The server was unable to map error code 998" when the server was restarted. Can anyone tell me how to fix this error message. Thanks for any help.

The reason for this error is that a client workstation (for example, a computer running Windows 95) attempted to download a cross platform print driver but the computer running Windows NT Server did not have that driver loaded. You can check for some suggestions given on this website - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q165082

Do you use any shared printers on the network? Incase you dont want the Spooler service disabled then restart it again. To do that click on Start and go to Control Panel. After that double clikc Services. Click on Spooler in the Service list and then click Startup and under it select Automatic and then click ok. After that click on Start and then close it and restart your computer.

You can also remove all printer shares if you dont want to let the Spooler service running. To do that Start Spooler serice by following the above method, but instead of automatic choose Startup. After that click Start and then go to Printers. After that right click the printer you want and then click Sharing on the shortcut menu that appears. Now click on click on now shared and then click ok. For more information follow this link - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319335
