    AD LDAP Question..

    Hello,

My default LDAP MaxPageSize setting is set to 1000 which I need to increase and set to 5000. I used ntdsutil for doing the same and in the command prompt I did the following:

    c:\program files\support tools> ntdsutil <enter>
    ntdsutil: LDAP Policies <enter>
ldap policy: Set MaxPageSize to 5000 <enter>
Whenever I run the "set maxpagesize" command, it gives me an error message saying:

“*** Error: ldap_search of configurationNamingContext failed with 0x59(89 (Parameter Error).”

Any idea what is this all about? Thanks for your helps.

Dont worry friend. Here is what you need to do it properly:

    c:\>ntdsutil.exe
    ntdsutil: ldap policies
    ldap policy: connections
server connections: Connect to server [Servername]
    Binding to [Servername] ...
Connected to [Servername] using credentials of locally logged on user server
    connections: q
    ldap policy: Show Values
    1.. Policy

    Current(New)

    MaxPoolThreads
    8
    MaxDatagramRecv
    1024

    MaxReceiveBuffer
    10485760
    InitRecvTimeout
    120

    MaxConnections
    5000
    MaxConnIdleTime
    900

    MaxActiveQueries
    20
    MaxPageSize
    1000

    MaxQueryDuration
    120
    MaxTempTableSize
    10000

    MaxResultSetSize
    262144
    MaxNotificationPerConn
    5

ldap policy: set Maxpagesize to 50000
    ldap policy: commit Changes
    ldap policy: q
    ntdsutil: q
    Disconnecting from [Servername]

    Re: AD LDAP Question..

Hello ChisholM, can i know what is the actual reason you want to increase the the MaxPageSize to 5000? I'm asking this because you should know that by changing this value, you are actually tampering with the balance AD tries to achieve between operational capabilities and performance.

So i will not suggest you to go through the process because there are several alternatives for paging your query to receive all results even if they exceed 1000. This is a better way to go about what you probably intend to do.
