Multiple domain controllers on same network, are all the same?

What if there is multiple domain controller on the same network. All of them are running on Windows 2003. What are the ways available through which we can differentiate among them. I am also looking for some possible way to change it. I am having a small test network where I am testing multiple domain controller. But somehow it looks not to be working well. Is there any better way of doing the same.

If you are having more than one domain on the same network then it is first better to understand the logical structure. You can build multiple forest here that would work in more properly and then configure them on a common subnet. While AD here is just a different network service. It is possible to build multiple instances of the services.

If you want to do that then you have to use a same AD database for all. You will need to install DC with the FSMO role and Global catalog server. Every new DC will not have FSMO Role or Global Catalog Server. Make all DCs Global Catalog and then check back. If your configuration is proper then you will not face any problem related to the same.
