Can anyone tell me how to force which server the users login to? I can see that most of my clients logon server ServerX where in fact I want to prefer its ServerY. Any information about it would be helpful. I am on Windows 2003 with XP.

Actually the logon server is automatically choosen based on the DCLocator process. Also, if you have more than one site, then AD sites and services should reflect the physical topology with the subnets and the sitse and there belonging DC in the correct side. Is the ServerA also the preferred DNS Server on the computers NIC, mostly is choosen also as logon server? You can try to disable it but you will loose the option to see machines in the network as far as I know, check the below link for more details about the computer browser service:

As said before, there is an built-in functionality that lets clients select freely among DCs provided by DNS. What you can do is change the weight of the DNS SRV records of the DCs to have clients pick a certain DC more likely than another. Check some below websites which will help you out:
