    Extend Schema for 2008 R2?

Hey guys I’m in need of some urgent help from you all. We are deploying out new server with 2008 R2. Once done, it is going to the domain controller. So far I have already extended my 2003 domain for 2008 with the evaluation version of 32 bit 2008 Standard R1 but I have few questions in my mind. Which are as follows.

    • First I would like to know whether I need to extend my Active Directory for 2008 R2?
    • Secondly, if I need to do so, how can I do this without 32 Bit 2008 R2? It is because as FSMO role holders are 2003 SP2 32BIT.

    Please help.

As far as I know yes you will need to perform ADPrep. You can get both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of adprep on Windows 2008 R2 CD.

For more info on the same, you can check these articles:

Yes, included as 32/64bit on the 2008 R2 installation disk. adprep32.exe and adprep.exe where the latter one of course is 64bit. Use adprep.exe, as this is the 64bit version.

    Best regards
