    the server is not operational

I have a DC that is acting as a fileserver and if I am trying to assing access permissions to users from the other domain then I am getting a message that says "The following error prevented the display of any item: The server is not operational". Apart from the domain trust and DNS issue, I havent tried anything to solve it yet? Can anyone please help. Thanks.

Have you added search suffixes on one domain machines for the other domains DNS suffix, and vice versa? It could be also possible that the trust might have failed. You have to go back into the trust properties and check the trust.

To resolve this issue, you must modify the TCP/IP settings on your internal network DNS server. You must configure the TCP/IP settings on the DNS server so that the DNS server uses itself for DNS resolution queries. Follow the steps given on this website - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325322
