Back up and restore Domain controller

Can anyone tell me what files and folders I have to backup on Domain Controllers so that I can fully restore to its state before crashing? Also tell me about the domain controllers with the FSMO roles? Will I have to treat them seperately? Incase I am a not able to restore the DC with the FSMO roles, then can I force other DC to take over all the roles without the original one up running? Also, how can I restore a DC and replicate the information from other current DCs? Please help me out. Thanks.

After that, you can use Ntdsutil.exe to transfer or seize FSMO roles to a domain controller - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255504

I think that you will need atleast 2 DC's and you will need to run ntdsutil to seize the roles. It will work out for you without any issues.
