Migrating local profiles to AD profile

We are on a Windows 2003 Server for DC and XP, 2000 and Vista clients as well. We are looking to migrate from a non-Ad configuration to an AD configuration for hundreds of users. To make the transition easy for our users, we would like to move local account files and settings to the new AD profile on each workstation. I noticed a microsoft tool called Active Directory Migration Tool that seems to do this but it only works with Window 2008 and we dont have this. So, what else should I be looking for? Any suggestions?

The Active Directory Migration Tool is for domains and the migration of user and computer accounts between them, so if I understand your question properly, then you want to get the user data to the domain machines, is that correct? If so, then you can use USMT, dont know if it works or not, but you can give it a try - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb457090.aspx

Incase you are still searching on how to migrate profiles, then you can take a look at the DMA from NetIQ, check it from the net.

You can also try to use ProfWiz from Forensit, it will do what you want exactly without any issues. You can run it in a machine startup or logon vbscript. Just search for the same tool on the forensit.com website.
