Recovery of AD in Windows 2008

I need some help with Active Directory backup on Windows Server 2008. There is some problem with my server. So before restoring I am having some doubts that I have to clarify first. Here if I run critical backup through wbadmin tool does the backup supports recovery of DC. I am talking about metal and system start recovery is this possible. I need something that can help me to have complete AD restore with all settings. How can I do that.

I will recommend you to take system state backup. I do not think it is possible to have complete recovery. There can be chances of still something missing that would create trouble. You have to take system state backup and then you can move ahead to find out more detail backup process. First just test how this really works. You can try the same on a test machine.

This can be done through internal utilities as well as with the help of some third party software like acronis. I am giving you a link that has complete information on the process of Active Directory backup. It simply has complete guideline how you apply effective backup settings on AD. And along with this the process of applying the backup after failure.
