Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. usb 2.0 controller driver downloa

good day,

i need help. i recently experienced a problem with an mp3 player. after
trying to update the firmware, the creative zen touch failed to be recognized
by the creative labs update wizard. my os (xp) and wmp did recognize the
player, but would not sync. i followed the advice on the creative
(http://forums.creative.com/creativel...=65022#M203505)
(the post by Sparhawk2000 dated 11/17/07)and microsoft's
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310575/en-us)(just one of several links
suggesting to uninstall) website to uninstall all entries in the device
manager under usb controller, then restart the computer. all of the hubs
were supposed to automatically install after restart. all did reinstall
except for the Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. 2.0 controller. my computer
had all software pre-installed and didn't come with any backup disks (hence,
rollback, update, etc. are not viable options). i went to the sis website
(http://www.sis.com) to download the driver, but couldn't find it. under the
faqs (http://www.sis.com/support/support_faqs_15.htm#56), i found that both
the 1.1 and 2.0 drivers are provided by microsoft, and i should refer there
for more info. i've searched microsoft.com for the driver downloads and am
unable to find the actual link, only links to problems re the hubs, etc.
does anyone know where and how i can find the driver for the sis controller?

thanks.

p.s.-if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix my mp3 problem, that would
be great too. (syncing worked before the upgrade attempt. the player is now
dead, stuck in recovery mode with no firmware.)

According to the instructions here, cleaning the USB stack is to be done in
a certain order. You might try the process a second time.

http://www.usbman.com/Guides/Cleanup...afe%20Mode.htm

There are also scattered pieces of advice, and there is one reference to
SIS here.

http://www.usbman.com/USB%202%20News.htm

Now, I did a small bit of research on the "USBdetect" patch, and it isn't
what you'd think at all. (The download link no longer works, but I did find
a copy.) Looking inside the USBdetect patch indicates, it is for the
inability to detect a USB device plugged into the port, and has nothing
to do with getting drivers to install for the SIS USB controller. In
fact, what the USBdetect patch does, is very similar to this KB article.
So this isn't it.

"DisableSelectiveSuspend" - not for driver problem, for USB peripheral problem
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314634

So I'd try the USB stack cleanup procedure a second time, and not bother
with patches.

USB2 driver support, was made part of a Service Pack by Microsoft. Which
is why evidence of separate driver support has been removed by Microsoft
licensing restrictions. Once you install the service pack, you're supposed
to get all the USB2 goodness.

If you're searching around the Internet, you'll find lots of "stale" advice
and patches that are no longer appropriate, especially if you're already
running one of the Service Packs. Randomly installing some of those
old patches, can leave you in worse shape, than before you started.
