Explorer does not recognize blank DVD-R's

I have installed windows XP Pro in my system and i don't know for what reason it is not recognizing blank DVD-R's. I did not had any such issue before while running linux on the same system. It seems windows xp have messed up something. I have installed programs like Roxio and Nero but even they are not able to see DVD-R's. What might be wrong guys??? I am new to windows xp so let me know if i might have missed anything.

Re: Explorer does not recognize blank DVD-R's

Try updating your optical drive driver and try updating your system bios and check out if Explorer recognize blank DVD-R's after that. If not than you can take out your dvd drive from your system and attach some other working one to cross check if there is anything wrong with your dvd drive.
