| Looking for scan/copy software for low-end Canon scanner I have a Canon Lide-30 scanner and have misplaced the CDs that came with it. I don't like the scan/copy software that came with it much, anyway. Is there a generic/open source application that can talk to most USB scanners ? I know I can fire up any TWAIN-compliant software and scan, but I don't have it on all machines and it's overkill. Is a TWAIN driver specific to the scanner? Do I have to find a Canon CD, anyway? (on a similar note, software called "CD Burner XP" has replaced all the bundled burner software I every had. It's a better app, IMO, and the price is right.) -- Al Dykes News is something someone wants to suppress, everything else is advertising. - Lord Northcliffe, publisher of the Daily Mail |

Set OS to "WinXP" to see 7.0.3.1a http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...1&modelid=6623 Standards (yes, TWAIN is per scanner) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWAIN http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scanner_Access_Now_Easy (Linux equivalent) http://www.sane-project.org/sane-backends.html N1240U/LiDE30 (in the Plustek section, USB, 0x04a9/0x220e) http://www.gjaeger.de/scanner/plustek/ LiDE30 based on National Semiconductor LM9833 chip. http://www.national.com/mpf/LM/LM9833.html HTH, Paul |
