A Disk Error Occurred, Press Ctrl, Alt, Del

I have a windows XP computer that keeps freezing every two hours with a message to press Ctrl+ Alt+Del key. Many of my friends suggested me to Activate Load Fail Safe Devices from BIOS. Well I did the same but dint worked. Instead now when I start the system it says “Master Disk HDD S.M.A.R.T. is disabled.”

What is that? I don’t have any idea. Somebody please help.

Disabling S.M.A.R.T is surely not a good sign because I guess your system is facing hardware failure and you need to find out the accurate components which are failing. Before you start finding them and troubleshooting, better backup your data first for safer side.

Hello gajrap, first of all go to your BIOS and re-enable S.M.A.R.T again. Now start the PC and visit your hard drive manufacturer’s website. There search for Diagnostic tool and download. As there is surely hardware failure the very first thing we need to check is your hard drive. So run this tool to findout if your hard drive itself is not faulty.
