does not recognize sound device

This morning I lost the sound on my new Toshiba laptop.

The sound had been working fine until this morning.

The only thing different is yesterday I got a new icon on my task bar for
the "echo chamber" It just appeared.

When I hit my volume control nothing came up.
When I right clicked Open Volume Control I got the following message,"there
are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to
Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware and then click Add
Hardware."

Before I did the above, I went to system devices and check all sound devices
and it indicated "working properly"

I followed the above directions but there was no indication of any hardware
that had not been installed.

Zack, if you got a Software CD with your Laptop then on it should be the
Audio Drivers. Just Reinstall it.

Zack...I just fixed mine with the following:

from start menu in "run" type - services.msc - click ok
right click on windows audio - select properties
under properties the start-up should read - automatic
service status should read - start

for some reason my status changed to stop

once I changed this all was well.

Hope this helps...

Re: does not recognize sound device

As you failed to include the original post your replying to, due to you
posting from techarena, which just leaches off of Microsoft's news servers,
we have no clue what this "same problem" is.
