problem with ipod itunes and quicktime

I have a Windows XP desktop at home which is working fine since I assembled it. Yesterday we bought an iPod Nano. Now the problem is iTunes and QuickTime were working fine on this system earlier but now when am trying to use it, its not working. I though re-installing will fix the problem but yet no success with any of them. Wheneve ri try to launch iTunes, it says:

"The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. To retry these options at a later time please run the installer again."

And when I start QuickTime, I get:
"Quick time failed to initialize. Error # -2095. Please make sure Quick Time is properly installed on this computer."

Surprisingly my computer wont allow me to remove it as well now. Everytime I try uninstalling it says:
"The following file does not exist or is not a valid uninstallation log file, C\WINDOWS\System32\QuickTime\Uninstall.log"

Can someone please provide some info on this? Thanks in advance.

If am not wrong whenever we install these Apple products, they require access to Apple servers during installation as well. Scenario could be their servers would be overloaded and at the same time you were running the installation. So try installing again later. Anyways, do one thing, restart the PC and try removing again using Add/Remove programs applet. Once deleted, open programs files and delete all their left over files and folders. Also manually remove C\WINDOWS\System32\QuickTime\Uninstall.log"

Now open command prompt as an Administrator and type CHKDSK C: /F and press Enter. Now Restart PC again. Once the process sis completed and your system booted, try installing iTunes and QuickTime again. Hopefully you should not get any error message.

Hello there, Not sure if you got this resolved yet or not, but you may want to try installing a standalone version of QuickTime. The iTunes installation includes QuickTime in the .cab, but if you get that message (the uninstall.log files error you get when trying to remove QuickTime) I find that installing QuickTime on it's own fixes this.

To download it, go to www.apple.com/quicktime/download

Make sure you select the version of QuickTime that does NOT include iTunes, and you should be able to install. Good luck!
