| disable Found new Hardware wizard for "standard" devices
Hi! Does anybody know how to disable the found new hardware wizard for "standard" devices such as mouse, usb key, etc? I must have a "special" version of windows XP pro in my PC where I have to go through all the steps (don't use windows update this time > next > install automatically > next ...) for devices which are natively recognized by windows... I tried to disable driver signing warnings and disable windows update searching for drivers, but I still have this issue... What I would like is just plug a "non-exotic" mouse or a USB key, wait for a minute for windows to install the driver, assign a drive letter and get the hardware up & running with no found new hardware wizard ... Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |

The 'Found new hardware" wizard is used to configure all the hardware in XP, including the standard devices. It only supposed to run the first time it detect the new device. The "wizard" does not normally pop up for standard device types If it does, something in your system is broken. ( this can be INF database, or crypto services or something else). Just get a good, clean XP setup and it will work as you desire. --PA <MULTIJET@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1165785423.236032.305410@j72g2000cwa.googlegroups.com... > Hi! > > Does anybody know how to disable the found new hardware wizard for > "standard" devices such as mouse, usb key, etc?
