drivers for promise fast trak 378 (asus k8v se deluxe)

does anybody have an idea if there is a working driver for sata promise fast
trak 378. I downloaded one from asus site but it does not work with xp64

You might try http://www.wdc.com (western digital),they seem to run with
promise hardware,or at least thier site has software linked to them..

I tried it, but I could not find any driver, if anybody knows where I can
find a working driver...

But no xp 64 bit driver.

Promise does not list the 378 on their site.

All indications are a 64 bit driver was newer developed for this
controller.

If you hit it with a system identification tool Such as everest, you
may get a more generic name to search under. And maybe another one of
the fast trak drivers will work for it. No promises, of course.

I have a SATA and an IDE drive on my Asus A8V Deluxe mobo. I installed Vista Home Premium retail version on my IDE because of the problems with Promise raid and kept XP on my SATA. I could not see the SATA drive in Vista. I don't have the keys to validate the Vista install but at least I can play with it for 30 days.

Vista is apparently written on the Win 2003 code. There is no XP code in Vista. I took out my Asus A8V Deluxe MOBO disk and installed the Win 2003 driver for the Promise Fasttrak 378 Raid (tm) Controller. I was then able to see my SATA drive.

Maybe if you use the Win 2003 raid drivers when installing Vista to a computer with an Asus mobo your raid problems will disappear. I hope.

I am going to try doing the same when I get the retail version of Vista that I ordered.

On the Asus A8V Series CD.

The XP-64 bit driver for the 378 is the beta version available at http://www.promise.com/support/downl...ver&os=0&go=GO
